  1. For what it's worth, I must have put over 1000 rounds of Remington Golden Bullets through my Ruger 10/22 and had only one dud. I re-chambered that round and it fired the second time. I had another dud in my Henry Lever Action. That one would not fire the second time so I just chuck that one.
  2. I would not have taken that shot. The kid got extremely lucky because the broadhead sliced the jugular. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. If you continue to watch the video, the 3 brothers came out of the house and continued after the attempted intruders. 2 of the brothers were holding what looks like shotguns or rifles. So the question is when was the fatal shot taken? Did it hit the intruder in the chest while he was trying to break in or did it hit him in the back while they were fleeing and being chased? While I would say not guilty regardless, the law might say otherwise.
  4. That much land for that amount of hunters is a very good ratio.
  5. I don't know anything about this club but usually when a club has low annual relative to the amount of property it owns it means there are a lot members to split the bill but this also means a lot of members will also be on the property.
  6. http://www.humanevents.com/2014/03/06/oil-rich-north-dakota-has-more-job-openings-than-unemployed-people/ How's the hunting in North Dakota?

Just watch a ton of YouTube videos and you'll get the hang of it. So what if you ruin a little meat in the beginning or miss some. It's hard to mess up that much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Saw it once. Meh...it was okay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I think the most realistic out of all of them is Survivorman since he is the only one that is truly out there on his own filming all himself. He shows how he does it and it's pretty grueling. He'll hike up a hill, setup a camera up there, hike back down, and then hike back up again with his backpack on just so he can get footage of himself climbing up a hill. But even he admits that even though he is out there on his own, some of it is partially scripted. He receive local expert advice. They do advanced scouting and weather tracking. Those abandoned shacks or caves he stumbles onto is not by chance.
  10. Savage make inherently accurate rifles out of the box. Don't get spoiled by their accuracy and then get a different rifle that would require some breaking in period to match your expectations.
  11. Wouldn't there be concerns of ricochets at 5 yards at a metallic plate?
  12. Or at a night club and having it fall out of your sweat pants and accidentally shooting yourself in the leg. #PlaxicoBurress
  13. Self defense training I saw used the same grip method. Flash light in one hand with thumb on the power button and forearm used as support for pistol hand. He would turn the corner and gave a quick flash and duck right back behind the wall. This gives him a quick scan of the room as well as temporary disorient the intruder. He then turn back around the corner in a kneeling position firing if it was indeed a hostile in the room so that he was slightly at a different location from where the initial flash was. 14. Get a shotgun. Here's a thread that talked about something similar to what you're asking: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/21601-most-versatile-caliber-for-ny-hunting/?hl=caliber Since you're in Goshen, look up Davis Shooting Sports. It's an indoor shooting range and I believe they offer some classes in limited schedule.
  15. The irony of it is that there has been no reported incidences of the Five Seven actually killing a cop even though it's ability to penetrate up to even class III body armor is well documented.
  16. I also agree with taking her to the range/training. A lot of people's fear of guns if due to the stigma that the media puts on them. Once she is around them enough and feels comfortable knowing that they aren't these evil things she thinks they are, she'll feel more comfortable.
  17. Story starts to get skeptical. No one actually saw him with the gun in his hand. She was the one who handed the gun over to the police and CLAIMED he was waving it during their closed door argument. This came a week after she filed for divorce. Seems like a tactic to try and win more money off the divorce settlement. With his high priced lawyers, he'll counter that she tried to set him up. That the gun was actually kept in SC where he has it legally registered and it was she who bought it up to NYC to try and frame him. In a matter of he said-she said and our system or innocent till proven guilty, he will get off with nothing but a slap on the wrist.
  18. I saw the moose on the trail from quite a distance away and I would assume he did too. But he kept on going further down the trail. I would have just waited a few minutes. The moose would have eventually moved. This guy barely waited a few seconds. Yes, once the moose charged, it was justifiable but it shouldn't have gotten to that in the first place. Someone once mentioned that the rule is you shouldn't do while carrying what you wouldn't not do if you were not carrying. Apparently having a gun on him gave him the attitude that he owns the road.
  19. OK...all of a sudden this conversation just got really interesting. Time for me to join in.
  20. Re-read. I didn't say thee lightest or thee heaviest. I said one of the heaviest meaning it's leaning toward the heavier side. I also don't know much about the Ackley Improved. Is it a completely different caliber from a normal 243? Can an Ackley Improved be shot out of any 243 rifle?
