  1. Its been posted on here before. Pretty sure I saw it over on AT as well. Doesnt matter where it was taken, its still nasty. If anything, its a good reminder to make sure the arrows are fit for the bow you are shooting them from.
  2. Its a personal choice. If someone is dumb enough to sit in a tree without any safety device, and they fall and die, its their fault. Darwinism.
  3. Last night on my way home from work, I saw a 2 1/2 ish looking buck completely dogging a doe through a cut corn field. Not just following her around, but full on running her, cutting her off, trying to herd her almost. Pretty neat to watch, but the doe was not interested. The young bucks are starting to get goofy, but I think weve got another week or week and a half before things really ramp up for the big boys. I think Charles Alsheimer hit the nail on the head this year.
  4. that first guy was just a dumb ass. Second two, Id say were accidents though. The last guy is going to get a Web Redemption on Tosh.0 next week lol.
  5. Ill tell you what you probably did, or should I say didnt. You didnt bend at the waist, you bent at the shoulders like you would with a gun. I have done it before. Do you practice out of a stand? If not, you should. It helps. Keep at it, youll get another chance.
  6. 4 to 6 inches below the line of the back and just over the shoulders might be over the spine. Arrow could get hung up. I shot a doe like that a few years back and she didnt bleed at all for about 150 yards, then bled like crazy for a few hundred yards. At the end, there were 2 big puddles and some clots, then nothing. Saw the deer a few weeks later healing up and doing fine. Saw her the next year as well with a big scar.
  7. Its part of what I used to figure out what happened after the shot I took on Saturday. Its more of an amusement for me, but would be very useful for those that arent familiar with deer anatomy. Would be a great tool for hunters education classes.
  8. Great buck! Question, why arent you guys entering stories with these bucks in the contest? All you have to do is post the pics and story in that section and boom, youre entered!
  9. Not rude at all. I just thought Id share my experience with you. Its all good.
  10. I wish I was that smart. I just know how to research, fix and design networks, etc. Im not a programmer or graphic designer lol.
  11. Sam, you are thinking of the D&DH shot simulator. I have it on my cell phone. Its a great little program. Its available for PCs, MACs or whatever you want to load it on. http://www.deeranddeerhunting.com/shot-simulator
  12. Heres the last one I have time for now.
  13. There ya go Doe. Gimme some time, Ill dig up more.
  14. I also found these 3D renderings, which I think may have been used in the making of the D&DH shot simulator software.
  15. Some members talked about starting a good deer anatomy thread, and I thought it was a great idea, so I started this one. Hopefully it doesnt turn into an argument and can serve as a good source of info. Lets get started with some pics and models I found. First, here is a pic of an actual deer that someone cut open carefully to reveal the internal organ placement. Next, here are some diagrams showing bone structure, circulatory system, etc.
  16. IMO, dont waste the money on either of them. Save up a few bucks more and get the Summit Viper SS (aluminum). Years ago I thought it was a good idea to buy a steel climber because it would save a few bucks. Within 2 seasons of hauling that heavy thing around, I quit using it because it was a pain to haul in. I then used my buddy's Viper SS a couple of times and fell in love with it and bought my own. It ended up costing me more than if I had just bought the Viper SS to begin with. If you really dont like it, the SS will hold its value better than the steel stand, as they are in greater demand.
