    After seeing nothing all morning, I came in for a bite to eat, then Im going to head up to my spot at my father's place for the afternoon/evening sit.

    Great weather so far. No deer yet. Sounds like someone is running dogs close by. Odd.

    Of course it would. They would just add the crossbow to the bowhunter course curriculum. The big question will be what about people that already have the cert, will they be grandfathered in or have to take some short class or something like that? The DEC will let everyone know exactly what the details will be when/if it happens.

    Make sure you look it over good. Check topo and aerial maps of it and the surrounding area. Remember to think about prevailing wind and entry/exit paths to the property. Basically, scout it good before you lay your money out. Sounds like a decent price, but if its not a great property, then you arent going to get your money's worth anyway. Also, ask what the lease entails, do you get full year access or just during hunting seasons, can you put in food plots, etc?

    Oh they grouped great out of my gun and were very consistent. Their performance on deer was not so great for me. I picked up a box of the AccuTips tonight, as Ihad a Remington specific coupon at Dicks. Ill try them after the season.

    There have been some, not that many that I can remember though. One happened last year or the year before where one guy shot another when a fox ran between them.

    Next year will be the same as this year. The DEC is trying to get them added to bow season, but that wont happen until the 2013 season at the earliest.

    Id take the opening week of gun (which is only 3 days vaca due to Thanksgiving), then Id take either next week (week of Halloween) or the week after that. I would take the last 2 days and get a couple of days in the late season.

    I saw a few cars heading north right near my place yesterday that had a few inches on them. They arent calling for any accumulation in my area this weekend.

    Id like to try the accutips, but have mine dialed in for the SSTs right now. Not gonna mess with it this year.

    I hope you have better luck with the Copper Solids than I did. The lack of expansion was very bad and the entry and exit holes were pretty small, leaving very light blood trails on every single deer I ever shot with them.

    I have a 20 ga Mossy 500 that has dropped a lot of deer in its day. Only reason I gave it up was the crappy scope mount. I also have a 12 ga Remington 870 (deer gun) and a 12 ga Charles Daly semi auto. One of these days Id like to pick up a 16 just to play around with.

    Congrats on the new gun! My old man wouldnt give me a gun, he said Im getting the whole stack of them eventually anyhow lol. Nice to be the only son sometimes.

    Yup. They are all lead with no jacket, and the little plastic deal on the back pushes forward and causes the lead to swell outwards, filling up the bore. Funny you mentioned it, as I just caught a clip of them talking about it on their sponsored hunting show the other day lol.

    I have always thought yearling meant a deer in its first year of life. This year's fawns are yearlings.
