  3. Riddle me this: Had upwards of 12 Doe on cama through September. I know the count because they were all on the same cam at the same time in the same video. Starting in early October all activity moved and nothing on camera since the 7th. I pulled cards today. I have nothing but small bucks through different parts of the property. A spike, 5pt, 6pt, Small 8pt. This activity started apparently a few days ago with a couple small scrapes appearing. My question is..... where are the does? I have never had all bucks and no does on any of my card pulls. So no does since 1 Doe and fawn on oct 7. I have DMP tags and need to put meat in the freezer. I really don’t WANT to shoot one of the young bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Oh yea you are probably 12 miles north of me. I’m 6 miles south of the intersection where tops and rite aid are. Off of oxbow. I wish you better luck than I have had this year. Still haven’t seen a deer from the stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the replies. The corn is very brown. They must be waiting for it to dry more for whatever it’s purpose is. It’s killing my corner field stand that is great when it’s down. I’m technically town of Lincoln down by the quarry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. By the way, Tapatalk seems to be working again on my iPhone as of this morning!!!! I am so happy. I would like to think my bad rating and the quick response to that rating from the Tapatalk support team to ask for more info had something to do with it. I will have to go and re-review the app Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Since I am still new to Central NY (this being only my second season on my property), can someone please tell me when the corn gets taken down? I feel like it’s up later than last year, but that could be in my mind since I am not seeing any deer. I have corn on all sides of my little swath of woods. I am making the excuse in my mind that all the deer are in the corn, and the deer will come flooding in when it is cut. At least that is what I am telling myself. Going to wait till first light and go walk a half-dry creek bed with a climber hoping to find a crossing area. Sitting my permanent stands seems futile right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Just checking in with everyone. Been in the woods everyday for at least a morning or evening sit. I have yet to see a deer. I really wish my neighbor would cut his 100+ acres of corn! On a more important note. I had a chance to review the tapatalk app. I gave it a low score and immediately received an email from them asking for more detailed information. I detailed the mishaps of the iPhone users after the last iOS update. I hope they can get involved so I can start using the app again. It’s sooo much easier. BTW I had a great sit yesterday. Didn’t see anything, but look at the view!
  9. Up in 7J. Still upset I had to delete the talkatap app. Not a fan of using the website version.
  10. Just adding myself to the list of users the new iOS update crushed the hopes and dreams of using tapatalk. No more posting through the app.
  11. All, I apologize for the hijack. Just trying to get a post out. As of 2 days ago Tapatalk keeps saying I don’t have permission to post. I am trying to see if posting works using the website on my phone. Not sure what permissions tapatalk is referring to, and not sure if this post will work. If it does I at least someone here will see this and didn’t want to start a new thread for a test post.
  12. Up again in 7J. Just inside the woods corner of corn field. Cameras show family of 4 Doe hanging out here. Let’s give it a go! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Quiet night on the forum. I guess 75 degrees, biting mosquitos, and a super bright moon does not make for positive messages or successful deer hunts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Up in 7J. Very hot and lots of bugs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Sat all day Sunday. Yesterday evening. This morning. Have not seen a deer yet. Will sit again after work this afternoon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Report from 7J: 1 full day and now 1 afternoon sit. Zero deer. Fantastic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Anyone else spend 8+ hours in a stand today and not see a single deer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I’ll never fault someone for playing it safe and ensuring a successful recovery, but that’s a dead deer! Nice job! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Just checking in from 7J. Up in the stand at 6:20. Perfect weather. No wind. Noisy with birds and squirrels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thank you. And that's the education I was hoping for. This year my focus is exactly what you explained. I have a 21 foot ladder stand that doesn't have cover around it. But there is cover at about 12.5 yards, the half way point where the 25 yard shot should take place. I really want to take note of the deer perception (like you said about when they crest a hill) when I am In a good naturally camouflaged stand, a stand I fake camo'd, and the naked stand. I don't have the "time in stand" to get on the ground and start messing with them and mimicking their movements. Baby steps. Should be a fun year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Grow, By no means am I trying to suggest options to you, because I've learned as much from you as anybody since I joined this site last year. So let me phrase this as a question instead of a suggestion. What are your thoughts on building cover for your stand with netting? Last year I over trimmed an area for a stand. It stuck out like a sore thumb. So I used some netting similar to the link below. And along with some dead trees etc... I used the netting and trees to cover my standing profile and the stand. I ended up killing a buck and a Doe from that stand. It fit the environment I was in. Is there reasons I wouldn't work for you? I looked at it as building a ghillie suit for my stand and did my best to blend my surroundings. Your area is more sparse than mine though. Just curious on your thoughts. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/guide-gear-camo-blind-netting-4x10?a=1953699 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Welcome. I grew up in SW PA. Buying a NY regular hunting tag will give you a buck tag for Rifle season only (one exception below). When you buy your archery privilege, you'll get a tag that is good for either sex bow. If you buy a muzzleloader privilege you'll get another Doe tag. By buying both archery and muzzleloader privileges, both tags are good for either bow/muzz season. You can also apply for DMP (Doe tags in PA) for your wildlife management unit. For example my tag situation this year: Buck tag: Rifle only. Archery Either Sex Tag: Good for Bow or muzz Archery/muzz antlerless: good for bow or muzz 2 DMP tags 7J: antlerless any season There are some other rules too that I haven't included like your rifle buck tag can be used for buck or Doe in late season with bow/muzz privilege. And my DMP application works a little different cause I own more then 50 acres in a wmu. Hope this helps. And welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Been out of the woods for over a week. Everything set, but always feel like I can make one more tweak i.e a trimmed branch, a different bow hanger, cleaning my entrance path to the stands. The key is to resist the urge and keep my butt out of the woods until game day. Good news is I leave for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan next Saturday for bear camp and don't home the 30th. It should be a nice, quiet few weeks for my deer population until the first arrow flies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Now that's a perfect evening! I'll take the Blue, a PBR, or a Johnny Walker Black. Seeing deer makes all that hard work worth it. At least that's what I told myself setting my final hang on that didn't want to level for almost 2 hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
