Are the fiver-=optic sights present on your reifle in the pic? If so, I dont see them
-
Yeah, my Grandfatgher used to have a red-dot scope back in the day on his 20 gauge. Thats great for low-light but I'm thinking for quick-firing response-type hunting, would it still be as good as open-sights? For this reason, I've thought of taking the scope off of my 22 when squirrel hunting cuz sometimes, due to their mobility, its actually a detriment (but not always). Is there a way to have both so you can switch up as needed? Someone menttioned a side-mount scope; how does that work?

One of the major themes of Bidens Inaugural address was, basically, a recognition of the Dangers of "White Supremacists" and "Domestic Terrorists" , and, that these groups must be overcome and defeated for the sake of the country. This disturbed me immesely and here's why: 1) First of all, who are the domestic terrorists? MAGA? The White Supremacists (which includes who?)? Conservatives? Except for the white supremacists, I sure hope not!!! Also, Im hoping that the "list" of domestic terrorists that he's targeting will include ANTIFA/BLM dont you?? Sadly, I doubt that they make the list !! (though, I hope I'm wrong about that) 2) Who are these supposed "White Supremacists" and where are they??Furthermore, How numerous are they in America today? I dont know about you guys and maybe this sounds naive, but, I dont know any white supremacists myself, dont know anyone who has have ever met one, so, where all they all? Do I have to go out to Idaho to meet one?? To be blunt, this a load of crap!! That doesnt mean there are , literally, NO white supremacists in this country mind you, but, are they really that big of a threat to be discussed so prominently in the Presidents Inaugural address? Hardly It is my belief that each "side" of the political landscape in America today has their own perceived "Boogyman" who, in their view, is the paragon of evil. For the right, it is often the "Communists" or "Socialists" that are the existential threat and, for the left, its the Racist "White Supremacists". To be honest, I think that BOTH sides exaggerate these perceived threats and use it to their political advantage( though I do believe that there are far more real true Communists/Socialists out there than there are White Supremacists!!lol) , simply due to the fact that it is far easier to control groups of people when they are afraid of something. It stirs them up and keeps them inline, keeps them voting for your side, your policies , etc. 3)What will be the strategy for combatting these threats? Silencing them on social media? Re-education camps? War? (Sure Hope not!!) What do you think?

It will be interesting to see how the Biden administration reacts to the ANTIFA riots last night in Portland. One of the issues thats been hotly debated on this thread is the apparent hypocrisy exhibited by the left in their reaction to violence and rioting (i.e., ANTIFA/BLM vs Capital Hill/MAGA). I am truly hoping that consistency will be displayed here , but I am dubious

I was reading from my old Field and Stream Deer Hunting Book I bought several yrs ago and came across a section about Still-Hunting w/ open sights. The author recommends target practicing with open-sights for still hunting, contending that a majority of opportunities/encounters occur when "kicking them up" while stalking (e.g., springing up from their bed upon being startled by your approach) and, is advantageous for these quick-aim-and-shoot like situations . I think that makes alot of sense but, kind of comprimises you too, doesnt it? I mean, what happens if you come across an open field and you come upon a group of does and bucks grazing 250 yard away? Like-wise, if you subsequently, decide to stand-hunt for awhile, your limited in terms of your shot-taking capabilities. Do you take a scope with you then?

Oh, almost forgot. Your description of "both parties breathing a sigh of relief" is gretaly exaggerated. I'm sure its completely accurate for the Democrat side (and always will be when describing the sentiments of the winning party after defeating a President of the opposing one), but not so much for the Republican side. I'm sure some Republicans do, in fact, feel that way but the entire party? Hardly As far the nation and world being better today as opposed to yesterday? I truly hope youre right. Really

How so? I guess it depends upon what your meaning of moral fabric is. If, You mean in terms of dedication , resolve, fighting for what one belives in , determination and grit, then I say no, not even close . However, if youre referring to Empathy and compassion for your fellow man, sportsmanship, and social grace , then I'd say Yup, by far!! The biggest problem with the former President (I'm referring to him as former already, damn!!) is his penchant for acting like a child when he doesnt get his way. That, I never liked and will definitely not miss lol

Yeah, I was wondering that too. You can get away with a riflscope on your muzzleloader; often, its just a matter of prefernce, I think. Here's a link to a discussion foum where its discussed: https://www.modernmuzzleloader.com/threads/muzzleloader-vs-rifle-scope.33819/

But You discredited your argument when you posted a link in support of your claim that Trump- and , at least 1 member of his family- planned the riot , then gleefully watched after setting it it motion , which was clearly not true due to the fact that the film was shot BEFORE THE SPEECH. Not good... And I will mention it again, storming the capitol and protesting police violence are two very different things.- Bowman Mike You've said this before in previous posts and it is a false and inaccurate comparison. Didn't an ANTIFA/BLM mob threaten the white house last summer , such that the President had to be moved to the White House Bunker? And that was ok? If thats not an act of sedition , an insurrection, I dont know what is!! Also, protesting police violence is fine , but NOT when you loot and burn, attack, injure and even kill, innocent people ; and destroy millions of dollars of public AND private property.

Ok, so I read the article you posted; here's my take: 1) There are some examples of condemnation by Democratic Leaders of the Antifa/BLM protests from last summer provided: (Note:I was glad to see the Joe Biden one posted below!) On May 31, the fifth night of demonstrations, former Vice President Joe Biden, the party’s presumptive nominee, wrote in a statement that protesting police brutality is “right and necessary” and the “American response." “But burning down communities and needless destruction is not,” Biden wrote. “Violence that endangers lives is not. Violence that guts and shutters businesses that serve the community is not.” Here's one from James Clyburn: On June 3, Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., the majority whip of the House of Representatives, told The Washington Post that the movement for racial justice suffers when it is “hijacked” by violence. "We have to make sure we do not allow ourselves to play the other person’s game,” Clyburn said. “Peaceful protest is our game. Violence is their game. Purposeful protest is our game. This looting and rioting, that's their game. We cannot allow ourselves to play their game." Conclusion: Too often in our political discourse, we're so often in "attack mode"- myopically engrossed by our mission and, in our efforts to to demonize , attack, impugn and besmirch our political opponents-that we lose sight of the fact that our ultimate objective should NOT be to defeat the other side, but rather, to determine the TRUTH. Having said that, I would concede that youre right , that there was SOME codemnation by the left of the rioting taking place last summer. 2)Although the article provided a few examples, wheres the rest? Why was it not universal? Actually, a fairly sizable number of leading Democrats never came out and codemned the violence at all!! In retrospect, why wasnt there a show of unity -in which ALL leading dems and republicans came out together in solidarity in codemnation of the rioting and violence that was being perpetrated at the time? Could have made a difference, dont you think? So, Was there also universal condemnation of the rioters by the left and , at a level that was as vehement as that demonstrated by Leaders on the Right? No... Heres a link to an article pertaining to AOC's comments after the Seattle riots: https://nypost.com/2020/08/15/aoc-is-speechless-on-seattle-protesters/ Upon reading, I think youll agree that is hardly a condemnation; in fact, sounds more like excuse-making for some loathsome and incredibly lawless behavior being undertaken at the time. Heres another one of a speech made by Schumer, I believe in the Senate chambers: https://www.c-span.org/video/?472691-3/senate-minority-leader-schumer-protests-pandemict Upon reading the text , you will find no language that expresses outrage and/or codemnation for the rioting. Also, note that this speech was given ON JUNE 3RD, WHEN THE RIOTING WAS OCCURRING AT A FEVERISH PITCH!! Conversely, it appears that Schumer spend a great deal of time making excuses for the riotous behavior going on at the time. Now, Im sure that you guys on the left would agree that NOONE on the right -at least, those in positions of politcal power, anyway- has sanctioned, condoned or made excuses for the rioting that occurred on Jan 6 right? The condemnation for that despicable act came out IMMEDIATELY , NOT SEVERAL DAYS AFTER; moreover it was universal (e.g., Lindsey Graham, Mitch Mcconnell , FOX news, etc.) and INCLUDED THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF. Overall, I think that its fair to say that both sides(i.e., dems and republicans) passionately and emphatically condemned the riots that occurred on Jan 6th and, although some on the left did speak out in condemnation of the ANTIFA/BLM riots(which is good), it was not nearly as passionate , nor was there unity in sentiment. Consequently, many on the right view this as hypocrisy- outraged about violence and mayhem only when you diagree with the group who's perpetrating it. And when hypocrisy is demonstrated by a person or group, they lose their credibility and undermine their message!!

Doesnt matter; according to Supreme Court ruling, his speech should be protected and he cannot be impeached and he should not be silenced because of it. What is your argument with your post, though? That theres near unanimous agreement that he condoned and provoked it? Your response Doesnt appear to pertain to my post that you quoted.

Nice 10pt Survived the Season!
Northcountryman replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Hey FD. hard to tell but it certainly looks like the same Buck to me! I agree that hunting pressure has significantly declined over the past 20-30 yrs or so and, no doubt, has had an impact on increasing survival rate. Also, like you said, I think that deer are "figuring it out" and migrating down to Suburbia where theres more food, fewer Predators and fewer Hunters. Property with the highest deer density is, nearly without exception, suburban and/or agricultural; consequently, some of your best chances to score are likely to be, literally , in someones back yard!
