  1. YES that too. Some of the trees i get my hang on in are way too small for a climber, granted it exposes me more, and has probably got me busted more than a few times, but ya work with what ya got Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  2. If i had id have permanent hang on site's at hotspots but i hunt mostly public, i have a summit climber, and its nice, but forget it if youre hiking in far, bulky and heavy. last year, ibought a lone wolf hang on for two reasons, lighten up the load, and' not limited to certain trees, being lots of where i hunt is swamps, you may find a great spot with no straight trees. Really prefer the hang on, but if i have an easy short route in and dont want to dick around setting up, ill bring the climber. Usually it takes about 10-15 to get set up and ready to hunt with the hang on Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  3. You cant do accurate math without accurate numbers, so you're "formula", says nothing Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  4. Rough estimates from you guys out there putting in the miles, how many hours do u spend each season, how Many sheds do you average, and are u primarily on private or public land. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  5. I think i replied to the wrong post.. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  6. The buck to doe ratio is a concept that man developed to suit his liking, how does that apply to a nature managed free range wild herd. Not that they have any real idea of the numbers and age class in a wild herd, how many deer are hit by cars, shot and never recovered not reported or poached, and then aside from that, they take in the tag data, whether it was a hard winter. Tell me how in the hell do you evaluate what the buck to doe ratio is in a free range wild deer herd Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  7. Well if the immediate area was abundant with small sticks yes, maybe coat them in resin to burn longer. Cant stoke the fire with logs when theres only 1 tree per 100 acres of brush. Should i make do with whats around or hope i can round up enough logs in all that brush to get through, Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  8. Never hurts Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  9. Had alot of that this year, i bet i walked over 30 mi for that 2 point, granted not all my time this year has been spent in prime shedding areas. Lots of exploring, found a good spot today, lots of rubs that size all throughout the area, thicker than hell in there though Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  10. From the woods, walked a half mile back to the car to get my phone for a pic. Im normally too excited when i finally find one and grab it before getting an AIL pic, but this ones special, my first hanger. Looks like a year old, pretty chalked out Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  11. HA, brings a new meaning to the phrase Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  12. It could be a year old, oh excuse me 1 1/2, hard to tell from pics the heads slighty angled so the nose may not be as short as it looks DID I WIN?! Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  13. Well its hard to judge from a photo, and with the snow is hard to see the length of the legs, that said it has an awefully short nose, gonna have to guess fawn Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  14. Isnt that a doe, i dont see a pedicle Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  15. My mom would be that person.. not literally, but she's that type. She use to feed the squirrels out front because, "its been a hard winter", yea there out the feed the deer people they get a kick outta it having deer visit the yard regularly, then the people get attatched to the now tame deer and " Dont shoot Mona!" or whatever they decide to call it Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  16. Didnt know there was a price difference for the that age group until i read further, makes sense now Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  17. Score is also perspective, a big mature six wont score high but imo is every bit as impressive as a 8-10 pt the same age, something about monster forks and 6's, i just love Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  18. And if she decides she doesnt like hunting, or moves outta state? Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  19. Not much of a turkey hunter but yesterday out looking for sheds i saw three out in a field, later in the day i heard some crazy racket in the woods, almost sounded like pigeons, sticks breaking, some intermittent clucks, and this went on for about five min before the noise stopped. After talking to my brother he said the toms do aggressive purrs, getting ready for breeding, establishing hierarchy with the other males. There were definitely a good number of birds from the noise, lots of sticks breaking, i imagine they were scrapping. Very cool experience, as i dont have alot of turkey encounters. 20. A solid 6 lber id say, watching the ice melt and itching myself. Almost all my best bass have been caught late april- may in small-medium ponds. Prespawn for bass whether sm or large is imo the best time, the number of 3 lb bass i catch in may i bet out numbers the rest of the year, Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  21. Hoping enough snow melts to get out by tomorrow, getting stir crazy Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  22. If u carefully read my posts thats the point im getting across, through natural selection the strong will find there place, antler growth is no inducation of strong genetics . And this notion of, we have to let bucks grow, and " cull this buck" becaus it has bad genetics ( low antler potential) is absurd especially the hunters stating, " its for a healthier herd" Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
  23. Question.. have the studies conducted on CWD/EHD and the like, been conducted of on long term effects on deer numbers, behavior and the herd in WILD herds, or captive deer in a more often than not " managed" environment. What effects captive deer, even the large acreage deer farms isnt any parallel to how wild deer respond, Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
