Third day in a row on this bird could have killed him Monday morning but it wouldn't separate from a satellite so I passed on the shot and the birds got spooked by another Hunter. Yesterday morning he hung up at 50 yards i already passed up three two year olds and I just didn't feel right shooting at 50. So this morning I left the truck at 3 a.m. ease back in got low on hardwood Ridge by 430 had birds Goblin all around me but I finally heard his distinctive Hollow gobble when it was light enough to I think they would be comfortable on the ground I did a fly down with a handmade real wingfeather wing do really soft clucks on the bomber call set it down he was like a B-52 coming in for a landing his feet hit the ground at 25 yards and I could tell by the crappy beard he had it was the right Bird ended my season for New York Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

Slipped in amongst 10 birds at 330 am only to find out it was 7 hens and 3 jakes all of them within 50 yards and they all pitched down within 10 yards and fed out the ridge. Now off to troll another couple properties. I was in pa yesterday am and passed up a couple 2 year old birds and some jakes. Holy molley pa needs to put their people back to work. 42 years straight of not missing an opening day of spring gobbler season and yesterday I saw more people and vehicles than the last 20 years combined. Never saw so many people but still only heard 10 shots all morning. Good luck all. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

I fiddled with the pictures from this morning to get a picture lightened up enough to be able to even see the bird. For some reason my phone pics were coming out really dark for being g taken at 730 am. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

It all happened so fast I never even thought to look at his legs for spurs. Lol. I do t have a clue what happened he sounded like he was in the tree when he gobbled but he was way up on top of a steep hill and they rarely roost that far west. I dont know heck maybe a youth hunter rolled him and damaged a wing and he was on the ground all night. I know coyotes will slip in on early gobbling birds but never seen a fox do it. This fox was almost totally blonde colored. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

Holy crap I just witnessed something I have never seen in my 42 years of Turkey scouting. I was sitting in the truck and my first listening spot I heard a couple gobblers through the wind and rain when I heard what ithought sounded like a turkey being attacked all kinds of squawking and I see something black rolling down the hill. It ended up on the road 50 yards from the truck and I see a turkey running down the middle of the road with a huge red fox 20 ft behind it chasing it. Ar first I thought it was a hen that had been sitting on a nest as it gets closer to the truck I see the beard swinging and a turkey losing speed Fox still chasing it I start the truck and the fox turned and ran up the bank and a turkey ran past me on theroad and the fox started back down the bank again I started to pull the truck ahead and finally the fox ran up the bank again. The Turkey continued to run north on the road so I don't know if something happened to the turkey that it couldn't fly or it was still dark enough that it didn't feel comfortable flying but I have no idea where the turkey ended up or what kind of shape he is in. Am now at spot number 2 listening through the wind and rain and have yet to hear a peep here. No doubt an interesting scouting trip so far. May have saved a gobblers life just to possibly shoot him later this season. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

What a morning. The last bird we never thought we were gonna get because of some of pa's famous hunters. It's bad enough when they do it during adult season but to drive by a truck with birds in sight pull over bail out and run up and set up WHILE I am calling just really speaks volumes of their ethics. I had to out call them and another guy that did the same thing on the other side of us and the 3 live hens. Broke them down with the bomber, switched up from bomber to tcIII with 3 different strikers and back to the bomber again. The big gobbler was so close we could feel the rattle he was just on the other side of a pile of black berry bushes and the jake walked out first unfortunately. Oh well one heck of a morning. Lots of scouting paid off big. Now to try get a gavin double by getting back to ny for tomorrow morning. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

If anyone sees an 8 year old girl fly over can you pull her down off cloud 9 and return her to me and her dad. Even if she shot the wrong bird. Lol that little 410 was awesome. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

Well gavin couldn't contain his trigger finger after we moved and I called in jake I 9 and 10. So he just shot his first jake after 4 or 5 long beards. Gotta tag him up and go grab the youngest kid to try for her first. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

good luck today everyone on their youth hunts. everyone is stirring around here at camp and gavin and I are getting ready to head out as we have a hike ahead of us.. guns are patterned, birds have been scouted, kids are excited, clear and chilly out. hoping for a good gobbling morning and hoping to bring the Pa youth season in with a bang.
-
Yes sir Moog that's why it's important to pattern your gun prior to season. Both the grandkids I put red dots on their guns and I cannot stand them give me a straight up 2 and 1/2 power Crosshair scope and I'm a happy camper. Probably at 35 or 40 yards your pattern would be a whole lot lower let alone the traditional bead on the shotgun buff covers his entire head. With all things considered it appears to be a decent pattern although it's a little low. If it doesn't work out depending on when you are going down to Dan's let me know if you can take one of mine Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

Lots of gobbling this morning and almost all the birds hit the field after fly down to dry off after the rain shower we had at 1am. Back to camp to check patterns. Pic 1 my 20 ga. Addison uses 35 yds she shoots for the head heavyweight 7 Pic 2 gavin's 20ga. 35yds gavin likes to neck shoot them. Tss 7 Pic 3 my 12 at 40 yards tss 7 Guess we r good to go. Now just to really dial in a couple birds and wait for saturday. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk

I make my own solution from happy jack kenel dip II. Empty my vest all the pockets on my turkey clothes and then mix up 3 gallons of solution in a 5 gallon bucket. Wear rubber gloves and completely saturate everything and wring out all the excess back into the bucket. Then hang them to dry The leftover solution gets strained thru a paint filter into spray bottles to be used to mist my clothes down prior to a hunt and or misting down the dog before we go to the woods. I hunt some heavily tick infested areas in both NY and pa and have never had a tick on me since using the happy jack. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
