My Dog Needs Loving Home

Any luck yet? -
Doe down on opening morning. then shot a doe just before dark on a over grown feild on thanksgiving. didnt feel good about the shot it felt really high so i waited about 3 hours and went out with my friend, couldnt find her, went back to where i shot and noticed i was looking in the wrong spot so i walked down to the correct spot, and i could smell her. You know how you can smell the blood or almost a smell that dosnt belong, well i smelt that and knew she was around somewhere, so i took a step back and fell. I got back up and looked, and there she was laying there, i tripped over her. So theres two doe down already!

Not kidding you guys. It was a couple years back. I was just a little guy. Im seeing my grandfather this weekend, he comes down from mexico ny opening weekend with my uncles. ill get more details.
-
Good luck to all this weekend and may the big one walk by your stand and right to mine! Haha. No but good luck to all and be safe!
-
Haha i was half temped to cut the tree and keep the arrow in it and take it home for my prize. haha. And thank you guys, good luck to you all this weekend,

At the checking station a couple years back in Mexico Ny i think it was, we brought my grandpas buck there, and 5 minutes in a guy from the city came over in his truck all happy about the doe he took... He pulled it out of the back of his truck and it happened to be a german shepard... Cops were called on spot and he was taken away.

Take a video of the parts of the hunt and what not and show it to him after.
-
I laugh when people say it, then it turns into a debate with supposidly proper english and all this BS. Just like fishes. hahaha. My english teacher and i got into a big debate on monday about "deers".
-
I did. I didnt mean it as i was mad, i ment I was disapointed that i didnt get him, i put alot of time in for that buck. either way like i said, he made someone happy.
-
Ill make sure I dont wear my reindeer costume hunting this year.
-
Well my dad went out to hunt this sat. My Buddy that lives across from the gun club got the buck i was after, 8 yards away. Turned out to be a 7 point. about a 2 1/2 year old deer. NICE deer. Was kinda upset someone else got him cause i lost alot of sleep over this deer and was bound and determined to get him. But when its all said and done its ending up on someones plate that can use the meat. Still a nice buck. Ill try and post pictures later in the week.

Correct i am 16. I was probably 12 at the most at the time... And yes, took alot of restraint to hold back from not giving him a double lung shot.
-
I know your pain. It just sucks to see "mans best friend" get shot, and the person gets away with it. No fine, no jail time, nothing. U cant mistake a great dane for any animal anyways. and if you could, then you probably shouldnt me hunting, same thing with my black lab chow with a hunter orange collar!
-
Exactly, and just because you walk to where the deer was, no hair, no blood, and no arrow, dosnt mean u didnt hit him. My buddy shot a doe a few days ago and he knew he hit her, and didnt find blood the whole 80 yards till he found her where she was laying dead. Same thing my grandpa shot a doe with his rifle, didnt see blood, but i walked about 50 yards into the feild the deeer was last seeing running to, and found her balled up dead with blood all over where she was layin but no blood the whole way there.
-
I felt the same way. There was no need for it, and there was no point in doing it. He was just being a d*ck to be a D*ck i guess.

Couple years back, I let my dog out side. He was a black lab chow mix. Looked just like a black lab. Wasnt a mean dog at all, never grawled at anyone, just barked if he didnt know you until he warmed up to you. Never did he chase a deer, we broke him of that very early with the deer hide in a barrel trick and it worked for the most part, and i bought some deer scent and dropped a drop of it on his nose every morning, he started not liking the smell i guess and i could walk him 10 yards from a deer and he would pay no attention to it. I had an orange collar on him because it was deer season. Now we owned 32 acres... I heard the dog barking, so afraid he was going to chase a deer or something i tried to call him back. Then I heard a gun shot, and a yelp, and silence... So i ran in and grabbed my dad, he grabbed the gun and the 4wheeler and away we went to wheree i heard the shot. We got there just in time to watch the hunter walking out of the woods to the 4 wheeler trail we had. After asking him why he was on our posted property and what not he tried to leave. So i asked him if he saw a black dog up here. he then said no. After a few minutes of talking to him about it he insured me he had no clue what i was talking about. I knew he was full of it. So we asked him for his back tag and took down his name and back tag number and told him we would be notifying DEC when we got back to the house. I asked him again, if he saw a dog, he hesitated and then said yes. I asked where, he pointed to the pines. I said ok did u shoot him. He then said no he shot in the air to scare him away so he could leave because the dog supposidly had him treed. So I told him to wait there with my dad and i went over and looked, and i couldnt believe my eyes. Black hair and blood all over. I was only about 10 at the time so i was prettty up set. I came running back over throwing rocks and sticks yelling that he shot my dog. That dog was my best friend, i took him everywhere, 4 wheeler rides where he sat on the back of it with me, walks, swimming, he would even wait in the bathroom till i got out of the shower. So my dad started loading the gun, and the guy got all shaky and asked why, and then my dad explained that he now hhas to go find my dog, and finish him off if he isnt dead so he dosnt suffer. the guy was using a 30-06 or how ever u write it. The worst thing in the world is tracking blood from your dog... I tracked him a good 4-500 yards back to the house, where i found him in the dog house i made him with his head on his paws, just like i found him in the ccar when my dad brought him home to me.Double lung shot, big enough hole i could stick my hand through. I was devistated. I called DEC and took the guy to court. The court then told us that there is no law protecting a dog... So he got away clean and clear. My dad then got a fine for asking the judge what kind of bullsh*t court he is running and if he went to the judges house and shot his dog then he couldnt do anything about it? So tell me this guys, whats the deal with that? How do you guys feel about that? Remember, the guy said he wasnt chasing deer, nor did he attack the guy, he just had him treed so he shot him at about 5 yards.

My step dad shot a nice 8 awhile back, ran over into the neighboring land, the owner was home, my step dad went over and asked if he could retrive it, the owner went with him, when he saw how big the buck was the owner told him he couldnt have the deer and to get off his property. After a 30 minute arguement, my step dad decided to give up and leave, on the way out he heard the guy yell wait, so he went back, and he said, you really want the deer? my step dad says yes thats why i came over here in the first place. The guy then unloaded his 12 gauge down the body of the deer, then said, here, have it... saved very little amount of meat out of this deer (back straps were good, and back right hind quarter was able to be saved.) the rest wasnt worth the hassle.
-
Guys you cant change stupid so dont even try to beat his statement. What you said 308shooter made no sense. Many deer are lost during gun season as well as bow season. Just because you havent lost a deer after shooting it does not mean anything. I have dropped a doe at 35 yards with my 20 gauge. Went over to the truck to meet my dad to go drag her back, and when i got there she was gone because she wiggled over the hill edge, and rolled down it to get up on her legs and i lost her in the swamp. Not everyone is perfect like you, but i will laugh when you shoot a deer, and then you post on the site that you lost a deer. Were all out to have fun and enjoy the "sport" that we all love.

Now i know we are all quick to jump to the conclusiion of it being some @sshole that is tresspassing. I know i was hunting the gun club a few years back and was following a trail, turns out i was on my buddy Daves land. He wasnt mad because i honestly didnt know the land boundarys, but keep in mind some people may just not know where the boundary lines are. Just my input.

Good luck finder her a good home. Beautiful dog, wish i could help with the new home. -
I agree with New York. Guns and Anger dont mix very well. Just be cool about it and if it happens again after you confront them, go to DEC. But try to get a liscence plate Number of the car too,.

There was a dead deer carcass the farmer threw down back by the river about a quarter mile from my house last year, head was detached to make the cutting up process easier, threw it all in a pile.. Was walking down back with a spot light late at night cause i heard coyotes and fox right down back of my house, saw glowing eyes and then they all scattered... I walked down the next morning, those little suckers dragged the deers rib cage all the way behind my house by the fox den down there, and the head... They are getting bold. The fox pups ran right up too me one morning and got about 5 feet from me and the momma barked and the pup stopped, put its tail between its legs and booked it back to her.

Sounds like a plan. When I stay at my moms in Norwich, I live probably a mile from the hill the polk ville is on, ( ilive over near smith ford kind of), I just open my window next to my bed and lay there and listen to the Yotes howling. On a good night they rreally light the hill side up good. Love to hear them, but i hate them.

Thank you.
