Gilbertsville Rod n Gun club is infested with them. They are like a bad case of Roaches. ALL OVER! Saw 3 in one weekend last year, brother missed one of them, and the other 2 i couldnt get a shot off at. I know you all have your opinions on whether or not they take a toll on the deer population, but the more coyotes ive been seeing, the fewer deer ive been seeing. Saw one the other day infront of the school in Gilbertsville, wanted so bad to run home and grab my 30-30 and lay him out.

A buddy of mine bought a couple of wild pigs from some guy around Norwich. I dont know if he is talking out of his butt or not... But is it legal to sell wild pigs in NY with the big scare we are having with them running loose?

Jonathan you said you are a member, out past the range about 30 yards off its the old Porter John, About 20 yards off that is a culvert ditch, with bamboo in it. about 5 yards off that is the apple trees, my father set his stand in the apple trees. And Guys, there is a sign, On the way in, you have to open the main gate, and on the main gate pole, the sign says CLOSED. Either way i was always tought to yell range is hot or is anybody out there. (We were tought to do that in our hunter safety course.) Also, he had to drive right by my truck to get into the gates, i just figured he would be a bit more cautious if he knew someone was out there. Jonathan you might know my father, David Robinson, Cheif of the fire Department? Just wondering. -
Do you shoot the doe if the fawns are with her?
Robinson446 replied to mossy725's topic in Deer Hunting
I shot a big doe on my neighbors farm last year, didnt know she had fawns with her, started gutting her out and saw movement, coyotes have been known to hang out around the swamp i was in, so i figured better be safe then sorry and put my gun next to me, few minutes later i heard the fawn blatting. Kinda felt bad for the little feller. Really felt bad when my dad decided to joke around that night and say, Jordan you mean SOB, that baby is probably down there going, "Momma, Momma, where are you, Im scared of the dark, momma." But if its a Very small fawn i wouldnt, but if they are decent size, i would shoot the momma. It does kinda kick you in the nuts though when you hear the fawn blatting as your gutting their mother. -
What's the one thing you don't want to do while bow hunting?
Robinson446 replied to First-light's topic in Bow Hunting
This thread is complete SH*T. Hahaha. Sorry I couldnt help myself. But i would agree with some of you, the loud cough that takes care of that tickle in your throat. So you try to bury your head in your coat but then you realize your making alot of un needed movement and if you just cough it would be better then trying to move around and cover it, -
I make sure to do this Pre season. I told my girlfriend she wont know me come Gun season! I take a few days off every now and then on the weekends during bow to spend time with her. Whatever keeps them happy i guess!

I always lay in bed and think, and question myself, are arrows all good? are my strings good? are my sights fine? is my release working properly? i always find myself getting up a few times checking to make sure i havent forgotten anything... Then I try and sleep, usually dosnt work to well.

My brother shot at a 6 point the first week, (Wensday), and Went to the same stand Thursday and saw him again walking the same trail with not a worry in the world. My brother didnt take the shot because he saw him at the last second and didnt have time to pull back before the deer was in open view to pull off a shot. It all depends on what you feel and if the deer have been pressured alot.

No it just goes to show you would rather see a kid take a Slammer buck and be hooked on hunting for the rest of his life then see your self take the buck. Nice to know there is people out there like that still and dont want everything for themselves.

The Range is not used very often, the clay pigeon range is used more then the actual range itself. But I have always yelled range is hot or Range is open before shooting. Am i the only one? -
Sounds like a good morning. I havent seen ANYTHING in my stands in the morning, having the best luck seeing deer right around dark.

This bow season i havent worn gloves, on my one peice camo hunting suit, i take them and put them in my pockets that are on my chest, (like right on my pecs), and its just big enough to fit my hands in, they work great. I also broke my hand 2 years ago and have a screw in my hand, when it gets cold it throbs, but i havent had my hands get too cold yet. KNOCK ON WOOD! -
Nice big body on it. Congrats

Yeah I was going to stay but my blood was boiling pretty good at that point. He goes, what i bet u wernt gonna see anything anyways. To me thats not the point. Its common respect, he had to drive right past my truck to get through the gate... The sign said closed, and i didnt hear him yell, "range is hot" or "is any one out there?" My brother wasnt able to go out with us that day, and if he was there, My dad would have been sitting down the range probably 10 yards into the apple trees to the left of the end of the range. but my brother wasnt with us so my father sat in his stand and i sat in my dads climber 50 yards to the left of the range... -
Went and got my permit for driving, went out around 230 and was going to stay out till dark. Well 330 came around and some guy that didnt attend The Gilbertsville Rod n Gun Club meeting (we made a rule 3 years ago, stating no shooting during bow season, and re-inforced this every meeting) decided to go out and sight in his gun on the range which was about 50 yards from my stand... Upon walking out, Captain Obvious asked if he ruined my hunting... I told him no worries, deer love gun shots, they come right in to them.. People amaze me...
