Had to run in to town before the storm last night and when I returned, I saw a big rock on the driveway...turned out it wasn't a rock. I took these 2 pictures and left her alone as I could see she really was bothered by my actions. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

Haha, yeah I keep old jugs over the pins in hopes it would be more difficult to get hurt if someone fell. After my addition is done, then I'm allowed to throw shoes...mamma's rules[emoji57] Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

Picked up the lumber for the footings , base frame, and floor, nails and joist hangers. I need to make another run for more lumber tomorrow and pick up the 6x6 stand offs that I forgot yesterday. Probably get all the studs and some of the plywood. Not sure if I can haul it all in one trip. My help hard at work. And a picture of the real work horses . Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

This is 1 lucky gobbler. He has been as close as 10ft from me and back and forth here for 2 months. I'm not going to pass on him in the fall. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

Well may as well start this now as quite a bit has happened. I was here for 2 weeks and found a job, it didn't pay very well and was very demanding, but it was paying the bills. I was piling rough cut lumber at a real nice indoors mill. It lasted 5 weeks. Then last Friday, at lunchtime, the owner told us he sold the mill. Well, ain't that a kick in the junk. I can collect unemployment from my last job until I get another job atleast. At this time I am getting trees out of the way so I can put the addition on. I got the permit yesterday. I am waiting for the timber guy to call me with a price on the timber I have. That will pay for the new fridge and stove. [emoji4] The backhoe is a big help with the firewood and is good for removing the stumps. So far so good I suppose. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I just cracked a refreshment and had a gobbler about scare the crap out of me about 50 feet from the porch in the pines. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

For you guys/gals near Syracuse. I heard an advertisement on the radio that there was going to be a drop off set up there in the area. IIRC was a 4 TV limit. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I'm going to wait until I have enough to start a journal. Today with this nasty wind and snow I only got some shopping done and 3 applications in. I also have a logger that's supposed to call me. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I will be setting up a solar unit, I use gas for lighting and heat along with my wood stove. Will be adding a 12v system along with the solar. I have a ton of Tea berry on the ground to eat as well as blueberries and wild strawberries....[emoji1] Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I quit my 25 year union job and moved to my cabin in NY. I quit the last day of March. I loaded the Ram up and pulled in the driveway this afternoon. Off grid and ready for the challenge. I will be making a journal in another thread starting tomorrow. Am I crazy, I don't think so. Am I a little scared...you can bet on that. But I have been a woodsman all of my life and I will give this all I got. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

The battle,over gun rights
Single_shot replied to Nomad's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
What we need is a FBI that will actually ACT on suspicion and not worry about stepping on someone's "rights" . What about the victims rights? The FBI dropped the ball along with 4 ARMED AND TRAINED LEO'S. -

I was a yearly member for a few years and stopped because all they did IMO at the time, was ask for money 2 or 3 times a week. It grew old quickly to say the least. Now that my hair is getting...ah heck, IS salt and no pepper, and with the situation getting bleaker by the day, I decided to go with the 5yr membership and get a magazine and a backpack to boot. Times have really changed since the 80's...I miss the good 'ole days. -
3 days into NZ ML my 3 year old Bushnell Silver 3x9 High Contrast decided to go white/fogged. Very displeased to put it lightly. So I took the scope off and picked a knot out on a tree and off hand at 25 yrds hit the knot just a hair low....called it good. The rest of the week was not wasted. Welp,I got home after staying at the cabin for the week and sent the scope, with lifetime warranty back to Bushnell repair with the supplied paperwork from the website. About 3 weeks later I received a new Silver Bushnell Trophy as a replacement. Not happy that I did not receive the same type of scope back, this scope is longer and will not look right on my ML. I do appreciate the gesture from Bushnell, but yuck. So I am probably going to take it to the gun shop and trade it for another High contrast and take a considerable loss. I really like the shorter High Contrast scope, I will give it another go.

Yes I have a new construction cabin there for 7 years now and we have a walk in shower/bathroom facilities. No running water or electric. We use gas and rain barrels and will be installing solar and 12v systems. I have a local connection for well water supply until I have a well pounded and then will have a 12v pump for that. You'd be surprised at how much 12v stuff is out there.

As far as hunting licenses..they already give me archery. The first year I hunted here, I took a PA. Lic. to the place across from Fat Nancy's and my Pa lic had archery and muzzle stamp on it. I told the lady I wanted a super sportsman at the time and Archery was included. So I either got lucky or whatever but I can get Archery there without any courses. As far as drivers lic I have a CDL now but will change that to a regular before I move north. Thanks for the info.

We really don't plan on living at the cabin till we die...but we would like to give it ~10 years and move back here to a smaller home near town/kids/grandkids/hospitals etc. We need change, it's that time in our lives and we are physically able to do this so we are going to give it a go.
