What's the coldest temperature you can remember hunting in
Single_shot replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
In the coolest part of PA. , Lopez, at the old cabin, was -22 not counting any wind chill. Just nasty, but when it's that cold, deer need to move, thus good hunting. And you hope to get one so you can warm the hands dressing it. [emoji6] Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk -
Finally got a logger that's willing to pay a fair price..of 4 loggers here I got 1 fair offer. He offered me 4x what previous offers were. 2 made offers but weren't interested and 1 wanted to prison bone me. This guy brought in a dozer to tidy up the trails when done. Will send more pics this weekend. Ordering the siding by the weekend from my favorite Amish dude. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I use WD40 on my truck door hinges when they get squeaky ...poor choice, but they quiet instantly. I have 2 kinds of actual lubricant that function as intended, 1 is an oil squirt can and the other is PB Blaster spray lube. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

WD40 is a poor lubrication. Before you sacrifice me to the dogs, and call me bad names , hear me out. WD40 is NOT intended to be a lubricant as all it actually does is displace moisture. It does however have a slight lubricity to it. However, PB blaster lubricant is a better choice IMO or anything silicone based. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

Half of tree stand falls were fatal, 100% were preventable

Fellow hunters, if you enjoy writing in this forum please at the least, learn to use a rope when climbing with your stand. We would surely enjoy your stories the following days after the opener. Don't be a stat. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk -
Wasn't sure where to post so adjust as needed.Paid for the 5 year membership back in March...finally received my NRA back pack. I'M impressed with it. Not sure I like it in black though. I'm not a fan of black gear, camo would have been cool. BUT....STILL a sweet pack 5 months later. They had such a huge spike in new members that they ran short of them! Awesome! Just took a ride over to the field where my logger is staging my timber and saw 2 guys not involved, at a certain pile loading it...they are another logger that bought a load of firewood from my logger...well if you are following me, I drove up in my truck, the guy walks over with a smile and says hey how you doing and I respond with WTF are you doing stealing my timber! [emoji16] The look on his face from a big hello smile to my accusation was priceless! Just priceless! I haven't had a laugh this good in months. He melted when I told him I was the property owner busting his jewelry.[emoji6] Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

No words can be found to express my thankfulness for the prayers received. After not needing heart surgery but receiving stomach surgery that worked ( he wasn't permitted to leave the hospital until he pooped) I truly believe in the power of prayer. He came home and is doing well! Thank you from my whole family. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I'm sorry I don't post more often but times have been really tough with no money coming my way and I just had a grand son born that has serious issues. He could use some prayers if anyone wants. He needs heart and stomach surgery as he has 2 faulty valves and his stomach isn't connected to his intestines, so when he is fed, they have to pump it back out afterwards. Prayers are needed for this baby beyond my issues for sure. More to come in a couple days and thanks for any and all prayers. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I'm just semi retired...I start my new job on Monday! Got hired at The Home Depot for overnight merchandising team. Looking forward to it big time. Haven't had any income for 8 weeks. Got denied by PA unemployment for technical reasons. Hired an Amish dude to help me get the roof on the addition yesterday and will get the sheeting on the sides today. Will have the metal roofing on in a couple weeks when I start making $, for now it will be tar paper and a tarp. I may even get windows in today! Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

Thanks! That seems to be working well. I removed all the b&b for now as it is just easier to cut/trim it afterwards VS trying to notch etc. 20d4" are connecting walls and first set of 2x8 rafters. The outside width is just under 10ft so each rafter length will be a short run even with a 12" overhang. I'm not going to get the pitch I was looking for so I will be going overkill on roof framing. You could get a decent tractor used and pull a plow, disc rake....I mean a finish mower. [emoji1] Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

Do you prefer steamed or toasted or don't it matter? I like any as long as they are bakery fresh. I do lean towards toasted though over steamed. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

When I lived in PA. I bought the new trailer from Lowe's and they use a plastic plate holder below the driver side light where it can be lit up by the white plate light. In 2 trips to NY it was MIA on 81 somewhere. I paid for a replacement plate. A trip last week to the DMV in Pulaski to register the trailer in NY I get me new plate and come back to the cabin, install the new plate and take it up the road maybe 7 miles....get to Dave's service and no plate. Yeah...back in the truck and up and down the road 4x. No freaking plate. So back to Dave's to let him know I will be back, can't find the damn new plate. Off to the DMV get there, stand in line forever to find out I need to file a report with State Police and get a form from them to give to the DMV . Off to the police I go. Get my form and go back to the DMV to stand in line. Get another new plate and return to Dave's. He knew I was not happy. He said that I don't have to have the plate lit up in NY on a trailer so he mounted it on the fender where it's solid. What a day, so yeah I feel your aggravation. I listen to WSYR daily and I swear I hear daily that there are shootings and stabbings and suicides. This is CNY not the Bronx. It's disturbing and I hope it comes no farther north...I keep the 12g near at all times and now and then get a local that can't read a No Trespassing sign, but jeez, Syracuse is crazy. The metal roof will be under the eave. I expect I will have to remove the siding so I can get flush with and tie in to the existing 2x6 studding. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

The 6x6 is only to the bottom of the floor. This is an Adirondack style cabin with all rough cut. The studs are actual 2 x 6. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk

I could really use some help from a framer/builder at this time. I need to know if I need to cut through the OSB to expose the existing studs. Do I need to double them up to tie in with the addition? The door will be centered and then 2 steps down into the addition. I'm not sure how to tie the framing in. I also suppose I need to remove all of the siding in between as I want the first rafter nailed directly to the existing wall studs. Sent from my HTCD160LVW using Tapatalk
