  1. I do one simialar to that...very good, thanks for that recipe.
  2. As with anything,we all get sick of eating it now and then,so yeah,3 years is'nt unreasonable to reach with canned meat. When times het tough, the tough can! lol...that's our motto here in the Thompson household. Raised 3 children with the wife and was'nt always easy.....so canning was a savior to us.
  3. Thanks alot....you just made me hungry,but I know i'm not,but I am. Excellent!
  4. It took a long time to be able to tell this story to anyone outside the "hunting realm" with out it drawing tears.....I'm very serious about what I heard, the kids screaming, begging ,crying for help...played on our minds for some time.
  5. While out in Wyoming hunting mulies,my best friend, step uncle and I split up a few hundred yards apart, maybe as much as a half mile,I was just sitting and hunting, watching a trail, waiting for a deer to pass, when I could hear the faint screams of some kids.Well I figured it was just the wind and did'nt pay much attention.A short while after though, the sound was louder and much more precise.....warning flags went up in my brain and hairs stood up on my back......Christ,that is kids in trouble! I looked all around and could'nt find the kids. This went on a couple times...till finally we had to meet up and head back to the truck.I had'nt said anything to my bud,and step uncle for the obvious reason, getting picked on. We went back to camp, changed into our regular clothes and while sitting in the camper,I noticed that none of us,had spoken even 1 word to each other for all the time it took to get our hunting gear put away and such.Well I sat down on my bed roll and lit a smoke, cracked a beer and at about the same damn time we all said "did you @#ing hear the kids screaming up there?".....that boiled into conversation that only true friends could imagine. The honesty was foward and there was no BS or bustin each other. After a couple beers,we went over to the bar,as we did every night while there, and finally told the bar tender about what we had expirienced...and fearing the worse, were ready to be laughed outa the place. There happened to be a local there that was indian and some others that had been listening in.They asked us exactly where were we when we heard the sounds of screaming kids....and we told them. The story we got was something like this.....many years ago, there was a school there at the base of that cliff, down in the bowl, near the flat. One winter, there was a heavy snow fall and the kids were out playing in the school yard. There was a terrible avalanche and all were killed. Now I don't care what you believe in,but the people in that bar were'nt laughing when telling us the story. Needless to say it was extraordinary, and I will never forget it....3 sober grownups, maybe half a mile apart on the same mountain, hearing the same exact thing...screaming children.
  6. I studied American Tang Soo Do under Tony Gushka in the days when my back was good.Getting too old to fight,so anymore just shoot and be done with it. j/k
  7. Same here...dad bought me a Kmart fixed blade Schrade with the wood handles many moons ago. I cherrish it and it is more than enough to get the job done. LOL...when I first started hunting,I bought a BIG Rambo style small machete kinda thing with a blade that drug the dirt for my hunting blade....when dad saw it,he said why you need a gun? ;D Kids will be kids.
  8. Swing! Batter,batter.....SWING! Seriuosly though, what a dumbaxx! Can you say rabies? You never know.....we just had a case of rabies in a cat about a 1/4 mile from my house. More than likely, one of the free range pests that frequent my porch at all hours and get my cat going crazy and wakes me up. That's one less to worry about.
  9. This sucks....close to 3" of rain, almost all snow gone, and just like you I woke up to about an inch of snow. It should be gone by afternoon though...calling for high of 45....and 60 by Friday! Heading to the cabin Friday afternoon, hopefully be able to get in....we'll see what this Ram can do one way or the nother.
  10. Your items will be shipped this morning.....they should arrive no later than Wed. Will be sent via priority mail. Best regards
  11. I don't know where you guys do your grocery shopping, but Pricechopper has the deal going where when you buy your food there, you get money off your next gas up. It go's month to month I think. It adds up rather quickly too. My wife gets over $1.50 off a gallon when we fill up. Think about it! I think it is for up to 20gal...Sunoco stations are the ones that honor it,if they are a participating member.....you just give the tendant your Pricechopper card and fill up. The money off/gal is adjusted for the first 20gal. We do this quite often here in Pa...but I filled up at the Central Square exit at the Sunoco and they were a participating member at that station...so it works in NY as well.
  12. You may find something you like here....http://www.armslist.com/ like a candy store to me!
  13. LOL..When you search that particular rifle, that is what Knight states on their site. 99% of the guy's on that forum are collectors of old military guns.....so I think he may be selling it for someone,as it's very rare for that type of rifle to show up on that type of forum. He has good feedback there or I would'nt have posted it here. EDIT: I might be sorry I posted it here.... ....trying to figure out how I might find some extra cash to get for meself!
  14. I don't have a dog in this fight but figured I would pass this deal along, seems good to me anyway. http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?213748-FS-Knight-Extreme-45-muzzle-loader-NIB-extremely-accurate EDIT: I have done quite a few deals on that site and this seller is in good standing as well.
  15. On the WGI IR4 I have, the lowest setting between pics is 30 sec. I know there are cameras out there that are much quicker between shots. As far as trigger speeds,I found this testing to be interesting. http://www.trailcampro.com/2010triggerspeedshowdown.aspx
  16. Same thing,IR4...I'm happy with the pictures it takes.....kinda slow on the trigger, but they are cheap. Some day when I have extra $ I will be getting better cams.
  17. This is what I usually see. ;D Not really. This is the only pic I have with anything in it. The date(this was in the fall 2010) is wrong as I did'nt set it and was in a hurry to just get it on a tree and turned on. I will have more and better shots this year...now that I read the directions,LOL.
  18. I wish it were snow coming tonight and tomorrow....the 3" of rain the weather man is calling for, is a concerne for my basement, even though I have a pump...it still makes a mess. I have about 3" of snow here it will melt and add to the mix. This sucks.
  19. Had me going right along with the rest of them. That is gooooood.
  20. It's enough to make one vomit profusely. On a good note though, the wife and I were talking about this last night, and she mentioned selling the house here in Pa. and only keeping what needs keeping, move up to the cabin in NY and live like hermits! I told her "I love you woman"! What she don't understand is,that I could do just that and get along with it! They really need to do something about these prices,as the economy is already in a heep of doodoo.
  21. A few years ago I tried the electric filet knife and cut the fish about in half, ruined alot of panfish learning how to use it,lol. For now I use the old manual knife. I have seen guy's use them and it was fast, but oh well..someday I may try it again.
  22. I sent a PM out to ya...not sure it worked, let me know. I will be in and out here.
  23. Since it's calling for rain tomorrow....the wife and I are cleaning out "THE ROOM"...I will PM you in the morning some time.Don't even think about paying for them. NOT the way I roll man. A brother in need is a friend indeed. Regards,Jody
