  1. I'm still undecided on them. They may help in the eastern half of the state...but a 3-pt. rule will do nothing here in WNY if the goal is to produce more/bigger bucks. What we need is more ECO officers!!!
  2. Nope. I've seen him several times while spotlighting on the way home from work over the past couple of weeks, but he has managed to avoid all of my trailcams. I'm really getting annoyed with that deer...it's like chasing a ghost. I'm gonna try a new cam set-up this weekend, maybe that will change my luck around? Also, I haven't laid eyes on this guy yet (aka "Big Boy"). He should be a bonafied monster this year. My buddy jumped two big bucks while cutting hay a few weeks ago and said that one was already huge so I know that he's still lurking around.
  3. He's definately a shooter, but I would love to see him make it another year too...
  4. IMHO, it's pretty much impossible to tell if that is in fact the same deer from those pics. Actually, the bucks are by now means done with their antler growth. Most have their mainframe number of tines but they have several weeks of development left in the tines and beams. Some will finish early while others will have noticable growth clear into August before they finish up. The antler hardening will begin in mid-August.
  5. Yeah, he's a three year old. Just for comparison, here's what he looked like last year on July 6th: End of August:
  6. I still haven't gotten a single pic of the one buck that I'm trying to get but did have a few decent visitors show up... This guy has really put on some antler over the past couple of weeks...looks like he'll have at least 6 scorable points on the left with 5 on the right and a couple more off the bases that might reach an inch by the time he is done growing. I have no idea what the heck happened to his right antler this year? Couple of nice young bucks.
  7. Great deal there!!! Be sure to post pics when you get some. I've only pulled one card from mine so far and was thoroughly impressed.
  8. It's a Covert Black 60. It's my first experience with a black flash camera. The battery life is awesome!!! Here are a couple of night-time pics (on the long range flash setting): I just picked up a Covert MP6 the other day too. I'm really liking it so far. The clarity of the IR pics is exceptional, better than the Black 60 and the Moultrie M-80 (have two of these). The M-80's are decent cams for the price, but for around $20 more I'd chose the MP6.
  9. The bigger bucks that I'm targeting are avoiding my cams, but this nice young buck has been pretty photogenic. The pics on the left are June 19 versus June 29 on the right. He's traveling with 3 bigger bucks and another one that's a little smaller than he is. Hopefully, they will all make an appearance in the near future...
  10. Got one of the other two slipping out the backside but the drop-tine buck wasn't with him...
  11. They finally got around to mowing some of the hay on my buddy's farm. I saw a bachelor group of 5 nice bucks out in this field while spotlighting on the way home from work this morning. Included in this group of bucks was the douple drop-tine from last year. He's looks to be a mainframe 8-pt with decent tinelength already but he didn't stick around long enough for me to tell if he has drops again. He is a bit more developed than the other bucks. I checked one of my cams this morning and caught 3 of the 5 on their way back through at first light...
  12. A couple from yesterday... This guy definately has something funky going on with his right antler, looks like he's a 10-pt already...
  13. We grow some big deer in this part of the state. They get big for a reason...not because they're easy to pattern/kill.
  14. Obviously, I didn't kill any of these deer last year as they are still very much alive... .
  15. I sure do. Here's one side of the buck in the first post... My first shed of the year that I picked up back in mid January belonged to the first buck in post #2.
  16. I haven't gotten any pics of Little Freaknasty since mid-April when he had velvety nubs starting to grow. He'll show back up on the cams sooner or later. I can't wait to see him again!!!
  17. There are 3 other decent bucks in this group. Hopefully, his douple-droptine buddy from last year will show up too. This guy is a two year old... Last year: June 14th: This one is a three year old... Last year: June 14th: I'm not sure who this guy is yet, he looks to be either a 2 or 3 year old...
  18. I've been watching this buck since since the summer of 2010 when he was a yearling 6-pt. Last year, he developed into a beautiful, wide 8-point. This year at three, he appears to been going more non-typical with a couple of stickers and palmation. I can't wait so see him in another month!!! Here he is during the first week of July in 2011: Late August 2011: May 26, 2012: June 14th:
  19. Dang, he is gonna be a BIG boy when he's done growing!!!
  20. I'm starting to super frustrated with the lack of bucks on my trail cameras. The fields are so dang high that it's hard to tell where the deer are feeding/traveling. Looks like we've got a stretch of several days of nice weather heading our way. Hopefully, the hay can get mowed/bailed up. Anyways, just though that these two pics were pretty cool...
  21. Heard one gobble on the roost 6 times sunday morning...he was only 75-80 yds away but wanted nothing to do with my calling. I do know of 5 longbeards that got jellyheaded by family/friends over the weekend.
  22. Had a few bucks on today's card pulls. Hopefully, they'll get the hay down soon so the clover can freshen up... Bachelor group... Youngster... I'm a little worried about this guy, he was a beautiful 8-pt last year @ 2 years old. His left side is looking pretty funky. It appears that he might have a split brow or something over there. Guess that I'll have a better idea in a couple more weeks... Same deer last year in early July... Late August...
