  2. Anybody hunt Penn. for Deer? more specifically the Moshannon State Forest (Unit 2G)? Thinking about giving it a shot late october/early November for Whitetail. Its about 5 hours from me, here in NY.
  3. Thanks for the advice....Im going to try them out at Cabelas...supposedly they have a small range where you can shoot them...I never even shot a crossbow before.
  4. probably not including the rental car....but I live 50 miles north of NYC, so I can get cheap flights from LGA, JFK, or even HPN (westchester county).....Its $3.89 for premium right now, probably over $4 soon.....but my main point was that if the $$ is close to the same, why waste 32 hours driving? 5-6 hours each way is 1 thing, but thats an extra 2 days of just traveling that you have to use as vacation days from work.
  5. My dad took 2 Wolves in British Columbia last winter. #2 and # 5 all time in British Columbia record books. Both were black.
  6. honestly anything under $1,000....I see on Cabelas.com Excalibur has those packages for around $800 or less.
  7. 1,000 mile (16hr) drive each way. So 2,000 miles at 20 miles per gallon = 100 gallons of gas x $4/gallon = $400 right there....why would I spend 32 hours driving when I could fly for less money anyway?
  8. thanks for the info....I have gift cards to Cabelas....I see the crossbows they carry are Parker, Barnett, Horton, and Excalibur....what you think? still the Horton? I have read good things about the quality of Excalibur and there not being any mechanical issues.... Horton Vision has some horrible reviews
  9. so you have to rent a car right? to get from the lodging you provide to places to eat 2 times a day.
  10. Meals included? what about transportation to/from airport? Lastly, regarding gun hunts.....shotgun or rifle?
  11. How many deer to take this year? Anyway, I saw you used a crossbow for some of the deer....was wondering if you get some info about hunting deer with a crossbow? Im looking to get into it next year....what kind of crossbow? arrows? etc.....how far were the crossbow shots? how far did the deer run? etc...Thanks!
  12. Anybody ever hunt any of the No-Lottery State Lands in Western CT ? ? ? OR Pootatuck State Forest (Lottery Area). ? ? ?
  13. Anybody ever hunt any of the No-Lottery State Lands in Western CT?????
  14. Ok, so if I buy a crossbow (now legal), and use it during the late ML/Bow season...then I can shoot 2 bucks, right? 1 during the shotgun regular season and 1 during the late ML/Bow, correct?
  15. Thanks, so its 1 Reg Season + 1 Bow/ML right? I wasn't sure if it was 1 Bow, 1 Reg, 1 ML for a total of 3?
  16. 25 views, but nobody knows the answer? haha, wow!
  17. I dont bow or ML hunt. I only hunt with a shotgun (Putnam County). I am allowed to shoot 1 buck per year. For people who do all 3, can they shoot 3 bucks or is Bow/ML the same, therefor only 2 bucks per year? Just curious.
  18. just looked at their website...im not looking to spend $8,500 on a mule deer hunt that doesnt even include food or lodging. 19. Who did you use? I have been many on guided hunts before (Whitetail, Wolf, Bear, Mt. Lion, Elk, Bobcat in December of this year) just never for Mule Deer....looking to go in 2012, not this coming fall since I am already going to Minnesota for a Bobcat Hunt. Nice Buck by the way! cant believe you didnt do a head mount??? My Dad got a nice 4X3 in Colorado similiar to yours and then a huge 7X5 in colorado as well...his 3rd mule deer was a 4X4 but had the thin short antlers of whitetail so he didnt mount it..just kept antlers like you.........none of the guides he used are still around.
  20. Thanks, but no interest in a booking agent...I can do all the research myself....I have emailed 100+ different outfitters from several states....was just seeing if anyone had any "1st hand" experience on a Mule Deer Hunt.
  21. Any recommendations for a Rifle Mule Deer Hunt?
  22. Yea, I just stick with Putnam....Shotgun during the Deer Season and Rifle for predators in the winter.
