But don't you live in dutchess county no deer up there ? Why would you travel all the way to hunt Westchester that has no gun or crossbow season Then ? If not to try and shoot a giant buck . That doesn't make much sense .

I don't know you never did say what town you shot that deer in btw Or what about how many acres this place is . Why would you care if we know that if it's only meat you are after small deer are all over the place anyway . Not to mention unless you say a exact street address nobody here will ever find it anyway .

I don't think there are many on here getting up at 4 am spending all the time and money on gear to help them hunt like cams and blinds stands scopes bows and so on just to shoot a doe .

Besides didn't you say young deer taste better , my guess is your first reaction even if the doe is bigger then that 150 class buck , I would bet you would shoot the buck .

Let's say in my scenario they're the same size just for argument sake he's still shooting the buck.

It's much easier to buy meat in a store then hunt , That is all I'm saying so I find it hard to believe most people are hunting just for meat . And you could have done a European mount yourself and saved the bucks .

If someone hunting a area and they go 5 years with out getting a deer anything they get becomes the trophy really . I think FSW Is more or less right Everyone likes a trophy Even If some don't want to admit it .

I think it's a little more complex then that in today's world Let me ask you this could it be many are just being politically correct knowing that the none hunting public does not have a problem with meat hunting and do not understand hunting for sport at all or for the challenge of it . You go for the bigger older buck for the challenge of it . Meat is a afterthought. I think if people would be honest it's not just the meat there after when they hunt . Hunting anything is good time for people . It's in are DNA really . And for someone that has no big deer in his area a small one becomes the trophy anyway .

Those guys read and write books about this stuff . I have no reason not to believe them and knowing how loud my 30-06 is when I shoot it , that's telling me they are right you would be half death after firing just a few rounds in a building. And if they had ear plugs on then how could you here the bing of a clip , because I can't here jackshxx when I use hearing protection. And back then I don't think they used any at all . Is it possible it happened once or twice yea like hitting the lottery . I think there right no way was that the norm with all the noise of a battlefield bombs , machine guns going off all around you.

I think you are in the minority I think most guys are hunting for other reasons besides hunger . They may not be waiting to shoot a trophy but I don't think there hunting because they like venison over beef either . It's more of a sport to most people, The meats just a bonus. I would be willing to bet that if all the deer in the country developed some disease that made the meat poisonous or really taste bad . People would still hunt them anyway. Even if they couldn't consume them .

You would have to only have 2 guys in the building not likely as they would be clearing the building in groups .

That's a myth actually with all the gun fire going off around on a Battlefield it would be pretty much impossible to know that . It would only be possible if you only had 1 or 2 guys firing guns . But on a Battlefield you have hundreds of guns going off the the noise would be overwhelming.

If I had to bet the only place in this state that could possibly have a huge record buck that allows hunting to the public is going to be in the Adirondacks in the middle of nowhere.

The one true giant I saw one time in my life was in Westchester but in area that does not allow hunting .
