The arrogance of Andrew Cuomo is astounding.  He feels “vindicated” and would actually try to serve in politics again?  Would people be that so forgetful of the damage Cuomo has done to vote him into office to further destroy America?

The article states “A number of the prosecutors, however, have emphasized that the decision to not pursue charges against the former governor does not take away from the credibility of the accusations against him. Oswego County District Attorney Gregory Oakes last week said the woman who brought the allegation against Cuomo was "reliable and reasonable."

Sounds like the prosecutors believed the victims, but will not prosecute Cuomo?   Apparently they knew Cuomo would be found guilty and completely destroy him from ever holding political office to further destroy America.

In the article it leads off to another article where the Mayor Adams, a Democrat of New York City had dinner with Cuomo.  Adams character needs to be scrutinized since he fraternizes with Cuomo.  What kind of people fraternize with someone with numerous credible allegations of sexual harassment?

This is a giant step backwards in the law regarding the protecting of victims of crime.  This is a giant step backwards towards protecting women from sexual sociopaths.

Andrew Cuomo has been the worst governor New York State has had to endure.  Follow the paper trail to see all the Democrats that failed to impeach and prosecute Cuomo.  Very shameful.  They have done an extreme disservice to what honor, if any the Democrat party has left.  Sadly too many voters, especially those who say we should protect women will vote for these Cuomo supporting Democrats back into office.  They would probably vote for Andrew Cuomo too!

These are the same people that scream they believe her and stand behind her!   EXCEPT when it involves accusations against a male Democrat politician.

  2. All of the above laws are unconstitutional but they stand and are enforced until someone challenges it through the legal system.  If it makes it to SCOTUS, they have the option of not taking it on.  Fees are not new.

The BIGGER issue here is not the fees, but "...and carry liability insurance."    Firstly, the government is forcing you to buy a product to exercise a right!  Blatantly unconstitutional.  Secondly, how much coverage $1M, $2M, $10M?  What will the premiums be?  Insurance companies can have a windfall field day with this.  Will it be like DMV where the Insurance company will notify the government if/when the policy lapses and now your permit is revoked?  You can be sure our Governor and politicians will be considering this for NY especially if SCOUTS rules pro-2A on carry permit.

  3. There was a gun shop on LI selling ARs with installed bolt release kits that did exactly this.  They got a visit from the police and were told 1) cease and desist or lose your license, and 2) contact everyone they sold the ARs to, to have the guns returned for additional modifications to make them Safe Act compliant.  They also wanted the name and address of everyone that purchased one and did not return for additional modifications.

Fun new game for any puzzle people.  You have to guess the 5 letter word in 5 guesses or less.  Each time you guess, the puzzle will tell you if you got any of the letters in the word correct, and if they are in the correct place.  Only one word puzzle a day! Takes just a few minutes and is  a fun little game.

    Find it here:  https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

Fair enough. Maybe post it tomorrow.

But the answer was such an unusual word that I had to look it up after I got it. It just seems lewd.

Family has been competing for a while now.  Appreciate, this word game is out of the UK and has used words not in common use here in the USA.

  5. Love the stories of these old timers.  They did not hunt for sport or recognition but for subsistence. They were interested in big bodied deer, the antlers were incidental and only kept as a memento.

  6. Equally important, is why hasn't this been in the news?  This is from the UK news.  Trains are for interstate commerce travel so this could be Federal level crime!  Why aren't the government leadership seeking National Guard protection/help?  Appreciate these are all rhetoric questions and whether you are Right or Left you should be concerned.

That's right you heard me each and everyone of you are a bad influence especially @grampy @Lawdwaz @airedale @mlammerhirt @rob-c and I'm sure many others that I'm forgetting.

You guy's got me interested in reloading so I started to look around and ask question and look for used equipment. Well last night I stopped at a guys house that was selling some stuff and picked up a RCBS single stage press, misc. brass, tumbler with extra media, 1000 cci large rifle primers and 2 pounds of Hodgons Varget powder. I still have more to purchase before I can start but it looks like I am committed now.

I mostly just want to reload for my 30-.06 and my daughters .243. @mlammerhirt and myself are working together to work up a light load for the .243 for our kids. If reloading for those goes well maybe I'll start to reload for other calibers.

    So thanks..... I think?

You will soon be addicted! But that's a good thing! The more I do it, the more I love it! Quite the thrill to see a whitetail drop in his tracks, from a round you made up yourself!

I spent about a year, gathering up odds and ends, after picking up my press from a forum member. Sounds like you have a good jump on the basics!

I also, during that year read anything I could get my hands on about reloading. Along with 3 or 4 different manuals from the likes of Hornady, Nosler, Federal, and Remington. The help and advice I got from the guys here was invaluable!!! I have a thread that started from the beginning to loading my first rounds that may help you?

We are all here, and eager to help you get going too. Guys with a ton more experience than I have, will be checking in.

    Have fun and good luck!!!

Read as many manuals and articles as you can get.  The more knowledge the better.  You mentioned light loads, always stick to and within the reloading manuals, both minimum & maximum charges, to be safe. Light charges under certain circumstance can be just as dangerous and catastrophic as over charges.  That being said, it is not rocket science and can be very enjoyable.  There is a certain satisfaction that comes from putting together a particular cartridge combination (case/primer/powder/bullet), not commercially available and taking an animal with it!

I just knew someone would have to say this.  No one is saying Browning factory rifles are the same as $5000 custom rifles, that's like saying a Yukon Denali is not a high end SUV because Lamborghini makes the Urus. Many models manufactured by Browning, Sako, Kimber, Weatherby and many others are "high end" to most hunters, including myself. Its not necessarily the cost either, when you handle them, you cycle the bolt and you feel the quality difference, the fit and finish shows craftsmanship, the blueing and wood are beautiful to look at and touch, the stainless is polished evenly..whatever it is. Anyone with an appreciation for quality firearms knows the Browning A-bolt is a fine rifle in anyones mind and a great addition to any collection.

Let me try to explain where I am coming from.  I did state "...a higher quality factory mass produced firearm" versus "higher end".  This Browning and firearms manufactured in the 50s, 60, and 70s, are generally all of much higher quality than that produced today and they were not higher end firearms; they were the standard (mass produced) run of the mill.    Around the 1980s to today, firearms manufacturers began making budget low quality firearms and pushed this is as the standard run of the mill.  Perfect example is the Remington 870 (Polished/Blued/Walnut) versus the Remington 870 Express (Rough/Parkerized/Hardwood or Plastic).

  9. "higher end firearms" is relative.  There are so many semi-custom and custom rifles available now an argument could be made that this is not a "higher end firearm" but a higher quality factory mass produced firearm.

The BOSS break is significantly louder than a rifle without it.  Think hearing protection.   In fact, Browning later had a version without the brake/holes, if I recall correctly.  The concept is you are tuning the barrel harmonics to the load rather than tuning the load to the barrel, like a handloader.  How tight the groups will be is a factor of how precise is the ammo manufactured cartridge to cartridge; and your ability.  There also can be factory ammo that does not shoot well in a particular rifle.

  10. Yes and they work way better than the chemical ones for heat.  There will be a faint lighter fluid smell.  You MUST use the red pouches; they will be too hot to the touch without them.  I recall the trick is to ensure the wicks are lit.  I have not used these in so long I do not recall the lighting procedure.

I just looked this up and holy shit a game changer. Interesting to say the least.

    https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2021-12-22/u-s-army-reports-progress-on-covid-vaccine-that-fights-all-variants

The bold is the key word to the announcement:

The U.S. Army says it has developed a COVID-19 vaccine it believes could work against any and all coronavirus variants, including Omicron.

This is new research in its infancy.  It is not proven and has a very high probability of failing, like most early research.

  12. Is the question "why I feel I'm ready..." or "why I feel I need..."?  Those are two different questions.  Metro-NY has always wanted justification for need.  For ready,  I have been hunting and handling firearms since x years old, I have had a Suffolk pistol permit for x years, I am a mature adult x years old with no criminal record, etc.

  13. I think the issue is trying to find a balance between using the cams for pre-hunt observation and scouting versus active hunting.  A cam alerting you where to hunt tomorrow should be okay (that is scouting) , a cam telling you where to hunt today/now is hunting for you.  In Alaska you cannot fly and hunt on the same day.  This is so the plane cannot be used as part of the hunt which would be a gross advantage.

  14. Nothing new here.

    1) The inanimate device called a gun is the problem.  It is the gun robbing, raping, shooting, looting, burning, and killing people; not other people.  Since there are more guns in America than people it is just a matter of time before all of us  are exterminated and the guns will control the country.

    2) Improve the economy by driving out companies like Remington and Amazon that will employ 1000s of people and bring in countless sustainable revenue.

    3) Make the police, not the criminal, the problem.  Stop arresting, stop bail, stop incarceration, release early, and then you get people that do not want to live in an UNSAFE state where they CANNOT defend themselves.

The go back to 1) as the blame!!!!!!

One side has a nasty swamp with only a few trails coming in from that way but goes from the north side all the way to the southern point of little Island.  Along the east side a beaver has it damned off and deer can't cross because it's straight up a back with a wall of briers.  Where that damn is it has the water chest deep for about 100yrds which leads to a steep bank with only a 20yrd wide gap to get onto the island.

I stopped saying a deer can't...... along time ago.  Seen them do too many things I thought was not possible.

  16. Post WWII, there was an entire cottage industry of sporterizing military rifles.  Mostly Mausers, but also Springfields and all others.  Some of the sporterizing was done more enmass by gunsmiths, including in NYC (Griffin & Howe), but there were also those doing it individually at home.  The quality can range from rough/poor to outright works of art.

Did I read that correctly ,the guy who is responsible for the poor quality is the same guy heading the new brand?

I THINK: Andre sold the rights to the new company, they watered down the product and lost said rights, hes getting the rights back and will return them to glory

Andre owns the company and the rights.  He licensed it out and the licensee did not adhere to the quality requirements in the license, so the license was canceled.  Andre is/was not responsible for the poor quality, the licensee was and hence his basis to terminate the license.  He will now have the option of going forward himself or finding a new licensee.
