New riots in Rochester
DoubleDose replied to 9jNYstarkOH's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Protesting peacefully (by all means), absolutely acceptable. Rioting, arson, looting, and violence, absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. Unfortunately, I feel this will be the norm until our political leaders in power (both sides) unequivocally condemn and bipartisan vocally and publicly support the forceful stopping of it, rather than being silent for the votes. "Further , would there have been a similar response if the “victim “ had been white and / or officers black ? " In my opinion, no, you would not be aware of this because it would be deemed not newsworthy by the MSM. Appreciate these officers are being tried in the (HuntingNY) court of public opinion, which has no bearing. I raised the point "The whole situation hinges on whether the police were justified in using pepper spray on an individual that was already in handcuffs, subdued, and in a patrol car. The police had control of the situation." Many with no LE training feel no they were not, those with some LE training feel they were. We do not no what the Rochester PD training, if any, is, which is a factor. While it appears to me not justified, I am also not informed on important points to have a position that it was not justified. This is another reason we have courts and a legal system; and not mob rule. -

New riots in Rochester

I watched the video and I'll throw in a different perspective than all prior. Disclaimer: I am NOT an attorney. Pepper spray, I believe, is considered less lethal force and not non-lethal force. The whole situation hinges on whether the police were justified in using pepper spray on an individual that was already in handcuffs, subdued, and in a patrol car. The police had control of the situation. 9 years old or not? irrelevant prior record or not? irrelevant gang affiliation? irrelevant psychological or emotional issues? irrelevant manipulative? irrelevant you would have done the same? irrelevant -
That's life in a Fortune 100 company. What you described would be immediate grounds for termination, employees would say they felt threatened and would be in fear at the workplace. I'll share a crazy but true story of a manager I know: Manager has an employee that is completely incompetent, not capable of doing the job, and produced zero result in 1 year. Manager and his Supervisor have a meeting with HR to discuss options. HR advises Manager he needs to immediately have a meeting with employee, advise employee they are being put on probation, they have 6 months to improve or will be terminated, and that all their work and errors will now be documented for their HR file. Two days after the Manager/employee meeting about probation, the Manger is called into their Supervisors office for a meeting and the same HR rep is present. The HR rep advises the manger that he is under investigation for creating a hostile work environment. The complaint was the same employee and the hostile environment was the HR plan and that none of the other employees were being treated that way. Yep HR stabbed the Manager in the back. Want to know why things are so expensive? Corporate America carries a ton of dead wood because managers and companies fear litigation and reputation, so no one gets fired.

I didn't hunt this year but that has been my experience. October starts dead/slow building toward November, end of October to middle November hot, then cooling through mid-December and end-Dec into January dead/slow, with public land worse than private. Many folks think January season is going to be like November with shotguns but not even close.

Be careful what you wish for! History, especially recent, has taught me this is precisely how this would get resolved. America tells China this wet market stuff has to stop. China tells America we have been doing this for 1,000s of years and is part of our culture. America says you need to do things the way we do it here in America. China says okay but you will need to give me XXXX trillion dollars to make these changes and educate my people to change the culture. Then America ends up with some bailout bill with trillions of dollars going to China instead of the American people.

Scope mount on REM 1100 20 ??
DoubleDose replied to luberhill's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Completely agree. The Ithaca 37 was/is an accurate (as heck) slug gun (smooth bore / foster slugs) because of the method the barrel is attached. It was a twist fit locking into the receiver and the magazine cap would get unscrewed and lock into a barrel fitting preventing movement between barrel and receiver. Ithaca now makes what I believe is the ultimate pump action slug gun, the Ithaca Deerslayer III. It uses a fully rifled heavy walled and fluted barrel screwed into the receiver like a rifle. Super accurate with sabot slugs. The down size is it is heavy for carrying but soaks up recoil. -

Agree, but the most accurate and best set-up is a receiver mounted base with a pinned barrel. The cantilever barrel also has the issue of stock comb usually being too low and the barrel still moves within the receiver. -
I did not state originated from Europe, I said came to America via Europe. China to Europe to America. I stand by everything I posted, and in fact under stated: Numerous infectious diseases were carried to the Americas, including smallpox, bubonic plague, chickenpox, cholera, the common cold, diphtheria, influenza, malaria, measles, scarlet fever, sexually transmitted diseases (with the possible exception of syphilis), typhoid, typhus, tuberculosis (although a form of this infection existed in South America prior to contact),[5] and pertussis.[6][7][8] Each of these resulted in sweeping epidemics among Native Americans, who suffered disability, illness, and a high mortality rate.[8] The Europeans infected with such diseases typically carried them in a dormant state, were actively infected but asymptomatic, or had only mild symptoms, because Europe had been subject for centuries to a selective process by these diseases. The explorers and colonists often unknowingly passed the diseases to natives, where they became epidemics.[4] The introduction of African slaves and the use of commercial trade routes contributed to the spread of disease.[9][10] Consider this, throughout history white Europeans travel the globe acquiring and transmitting infections and it is the fault of the place they went to?

Google "Remington 1100 Weaver base". Lots to choose from. Can you do this? No idea what your skill set is. It requires precisely drilling the holes centered and in a straight line. The screws themselves are a fine pitch (48?) which is not a common tap and would be needed. -
China has been doing exactly what for a long time? Global travel is responsible for taking local infections and making them pandemic. China didn't export it like a commodity, product, (or weapon) and America didn't import it. Travelers unknowingly carried it. Just like when the Europeans came to the New World (America). They brought the common cold, small pox, and chicken pox which devastated the natives; these were new infections to this area to which they had no immunity. COVID19 most likely first came into America on the East Coast via Europe; not West Coast via China. Now if by "they" you meant white europeans, then yeah "theyve been doing this shit for a long time...". that is spreading infections via global travel.

Anyway, I appreciate your viewpoint, but I have a different one. For the benefit of others on here, we have a difference of opinion, objectively debated with explanation, and have ended with agreeing to disagree. No insults, no name calling, no labeling, nothing personal!

So how did everyone do? Where and when did you hunt? Public versus private? Number of deer seen? Bucks, does, or shed bucks?

I'll accept you are " No disinformation there, just the best currently available from somebody who has experience with lots and lots of folks who have gotten their second shot and a "close personal relationship" with NIH." However, you should then know better and be held to a higher standard. This is a Hunting website, not a Journal (where data is peer reviewed before going public), and anyone here can say something/anything professionally and expertly and be misunderstood. Anti-vaccers are taking the hearsay anecdotal evidence and running with it. To those in the medical profession, 20% and the symptoms you state point to the vaccine being safe. To the anti-vaccer the same is unsafe. Additionally, the publicized evolving data & hearsay anecdotal evidence is then in the future misused and cited to claim how wrong people were. It's not good science or practice and becomes the ammo for politicization.

This is SPIN. They are vaccinating the soldiers at Gitmo and that is the right thing to do. The military medical policy at Gitmo is that if the soldiers need to be vaccinated than so do the prisoners. This was explained on FOX News by the military medical officer who wrote the policy. Sleepy Joe has nothing to do with this.

Gun-control advocates keep changing the wording and methods to make things look worse than they are. Not too long ago it was "gun-deaths" and this wrongly included justified and legal self-defense, suicides, and justified police shootings to prop up the numbers. Then it became "gun-violence" to include all shootings without a fatal outcome and again wrongly including all types. When they talk about "children" they include all the <18 year old adolescent gang-bangers, which make up the majority in this group but don't clarify this. A famous statistician said it best about statistics "Numbers don't lie and liars use numbers!" Gun-control advocates follow the science? Cities that have the highest gun controls have the highest gun-violence. Comparable Cities that have the lowest gun controls have the lowest gun-violence. If you similarly follow chronologically the implementation of gun control laws you see a correlate increase in gun-violence, with gun-control laws; and the converse is true also. Don't believe me, Google John Lott and read-up on his work.

Cubital tunnel syndrome would only explain symptoms from your elbow to your hand/fingers; not neck, shoulders, upper arm, or chest. You, and you know the symptoms best, think it is your neck. A neck issue could explain all symptoms. I would advise you to see a spinal specialist and get an MRI of neck to rule out cervical herniated discs and spinal x-ray to rule out spinal stenosis. These could cause all your symptoms. The latter is serious, but unlikely at your age.

To be fair, it would be interesting to know how Australia compares to other similar countries regarding COVID case #s and COVID deaths, per capita. That is the comparison to determine what mitigation measures worked or didn't work. Just because they opened up doesn't mean or prove they are a success story. "Of the hundreds I know...second dose of Pfizer vaccine is most prone to complications...20% or so experiencing..." is anecdotal evidence that causes further disinformation. Without a properly powered comparative controlled trial (Pfizer vs Moderna vs J&J, etc) it is not possible to determine which vaccine is most prone to have a reaction and what % of people experience a reaction.

The shoulder is a very complex joint with many ligaments, tendons, and muscles; and complex movement. Years of use/abuse can cause scarring of the tendons (tendonosis) and impingement syndrome. Tears may require debridement of the joint space. It is possible to have more than one issue. You can have a torn rotator cuff and be able to shoot your bow; all depends on the extent of the tear and location. Depending on the root cause(s), rest, medications such as NSAIDs, and/or physical therapy can alleviate symptoms in some people; in others surgery (usually arthroscopic) is the treatment.

Q1: So i exercise and take plenty of vitamins daily i have no reason to get the vaccination ? A1: Exercise and vitamins have been proven to be good for your health; and have nothing to do with vaccination. I have no knowledge of your medical history, family history, concurrent illnesses, concomitant medications, comorbidities, or risk factors and DO NOT want to know. Whether you have reason to get the vaccine or not is a discussion for you and your primary care physician, not anyone on the internet. Q2: There is literally no difference between someone who gets the vaccine and someone who has a healthy immune system? A2: Entirely different. Coronavirus causes COVID. The vaccine is not injecting the Coronavirus, it injects a part of it, so your immune system recognizes and builds antibodies to the Virus itself and will kill it off when infected with the virus. The vaccination cannot cause you to develop COVID. 1) Someone vaccinated with a healthy immune system, who gets infected with the Coronavirus, should not develop COVID. 2) Someone NOT vaccinated with a healthy immune system, who gets infected with the Coronavirus, WILL develop COVID. What cannot be predicted is that if YOU develop COVID will it be mild or fatal.

Corona virus causes the sickness Corona Virus Disease (COVID). Two separate but connected things. The vaccine protects you from getting COVID (the illness/sickness) from the virus. That is how immunity works. The vaccine does not protect you from catching the virus. The vaccine also does not eradicate the virus and it most likely will exist in the world forever now. The test is for the presence of the virus only. Every single person that gets the vaccinations and develops immunity can still test positive.
