Ford
So, got my 1/2 acre plot planted with brassica. Picture looks the same as last year lol. A little less rocks and vegtable matter. Got some apple trees in there, they were hammered by Japanese bettles this year. Sprayed them with Captan (spelling) but they still tore em up pretty good. WesternNY
captan is a fungicide you need pesticide for Jap bettles... You could use sevin, just dont use it when the fruit is 10mm to the size of a 50 cent piece because it is also used to promote fruit drop for chemical thinning. Plot looks great, your apple trees look good to, got any close up pics? That spot will be awesome in a few years!

Ford
Thanks guys. The spray I used was Bonide Fruit Tree spray, whith one of the ingredients Captan...Its says it is good for the jap bettles, but after spraying the last time, I found them on the tree the day after. Should I use the liquid Sevin? There is no fruit because they got a bad late frost...
WesternNY
Bonide has captan and I think mathalon (sp??), but the does of insecticide and fungicide is so low it is almost useless. For Jap bettles I would use liquid seven, read the lable... but it works better than bonide for pests. Good Luck.
