Can the Grainger carabiners handle the load in a fall? (and sudden stop?)

Well I dont know if they have been tested for a "fall and stop" situation, but given the fact that they are from REESE, who makes DOT approved equipment for trailers and hauling, I'd venture a guess they are tested to failure.

When you hitch up a trailer, aside from the ball on tongue action, you attach 2 safety chains as a back up incase the ball or tongue has an issue while driving. I'd imagine that if a trailer came loose from a vehicle there would be some serious jarring, side to side movments, and a very high shock load traveling through the safety chains.
