G-Man
My understanding is if they are not native to ny and/or not protected by a season ex. woodchucks, hogs they are fair game. That is why moose were given protection when the dec felt there was a viable population present.
G-Man
And mountain lions are listed by the dec as endangered in nys so no shooting them
G-Man
There is no protection or listing for elk in new york as per the rocky mt. elk foundation. part of the problem they are dealing with trying to get the state to reintroduce them..as of now you can shoot. the blur
I googled elk hunting in NY. All I came up with is the canned hunts. Many of them. Maybe a few of them hopped the fence and escaped..... about shooting them in the wild.... I'm not so sure. Not worth the risk. I'd ask the DEC before risking your hunting license for 10 years. cbx46
I was told even a mountain lion since they don't exists and no season you can't shoot I assume same for elk
the blur
You can't shoot Elk or Moose in NY, unless on a private canned hunt. You will lose you hunting license for a very long time. Hogs are listed as small game, open season, with a small game license.
