help! Silent turkeys!

We have gone turkey hunting 4 times so far this season, this is the only property that we turkey hunt on for the large amount of turkeys seen last year. This season so far we have seen like 8 hens. and 2 toms (could have been the same tom both times) and out of the 4 times, not a single gobble.  Last year we took 3 turkeys and all came and responded to our calls. This morning and another morning (only 2 times we seen) right when we see hear the turkeys fly down there are multiple hens and one tom. Not a sound in the woods but crows owls and birds.  I dont know what to do.  But 2 days ago the land owner said he heard turkeys gobbling like crazy there at 5pm. Anything at this point will help. Either the turkeys are done mating, or they are doing so in the afternoon.

Hunt later in the morning. Seems to be the hot ticket or at least it was. Probably in a lull right now. If they are henned up....makes it so much harder

Still hunt/spot stalk... slowly walk woods field edges calling every once in a while... when you see em, SET UP!!! thats how I filled my tags... and yes this yr is sounds as tho Mrs turkey got tired of all the gobbling and removed Mr turkeys vocal cords...

+1 thats how I got my birds... the jake was 9:48AM I belive and the Big tom was 11.49AM

Last two birds ive shot when its been quiet...1138 and 1151am. Think i have lazy turkeys that like to sleep in!

Hey its worked for me to not get up at the crack of dawn! Ill sleep in!

Hang tight and keep at it. Im 23 years old, killed 9 turkeys not a single one before 9:15 lol

So that explains why we heard nothing this morning.I left by 9:30 due to no gobbling and windy all morning.

Just because you didn't hear a gobble doesn't mean he didn't come in and spot your setup. They don't always gobble as there's really no need to if they're surrounded by hens. Gobbling is not the mating call, it's merely to locate his hens. Drumming and spitting is what they do when courting a female.

 In these situations I like to get the hens pissed at me, then when the mad hens come to investigate, they bring the tom with them...........BANG......FLOP!

 Then there's the chance that you've educated that bird. In that case it would be wise to let that spot be for a week and at the very least, use a different call and don't overcall.

I have killed many toms that came in silent. Think of it as deer hunting & hang in there. Im going out in the A.M. but Im sleeping in and heading out around 8.  Keep at it and good luck.
