blackradio
A lot of bear sightings in Dutchess County this summer. We had a bear in our yard (we think it was this same bear) every week for a month. I was in my underwear one morning eating a yogurt and saw this bear walk past my window, my jaw dropped; he was huge. He passed by my chickens and into my driveway heading into the neighbors yard. I dropped my cup and ran out the door into my car for my camera and tripod. The bear pulled down the neighbors sapling to feed on the bird feeder. I stopped about 40 feet from him and snapped a few pics, then went inside to call the neighbor. On my way back outside the bear heard the door shut and ran towards my driveway where my camera was. I was scared. I picked up a rock and chucked it at him and he freaked and bee-lined parallel to my yard into the other neighbors yard. I heard a Mexican lady screaming someones name, which i though was her kid's name. She was crying frantically and I figured the bear had gone near her kid. I was about to get my gun but I went into her yard and saw the bear leaving coming back towards me and my house. I ran inside and the neighbor called from down the street and said it was her dog she was screaming to, not her kid. We saw the bear the following weekend buy haven't seen it since. Stunning animal and seemed very docile while feeding. Just thought I'd share.
