Basic Hunting Gear for Suffolk County

Recommended Posts

  Good idea.

As for tree stand I was thinking of a self climbing stand so I could take it with me coming or going.  Any thoughts?  Do I need to worry about my car being vandalized by PETA geeks?

my only concern with the plastic bin in the early season is you're more than likely to sweat your a*s off..........I don't know if I'd want to contain that scent in a plastic tub.

You'd definitely need a climber because you can't leave permanent stands on public lands.  And, if you did, they'd probably get stolen- this I know from personal experience.  As far as keeping your sweaty clothes in a plastic bin- I always hang them to dry outside when I get home.  Also, you can throw a few pine twigs in the bin when you store your gear.
