Going to be one of those years !

Seems even with all the latest in technology and safety you hear about this every year. Years ago most hunters stayed on mother earth but everyone and anyone is up in trees now. I used to be laughed at when I was in my teens for climbing up huge pines and nailing boards in place to hunt from, most bow hunters hunted from the ground in those days, yea Im old, that was in the 70s.

After five years of harping on my best friend I finally got him to buy a hunter safety system for this year.....his uncle fell from a stand years ago and he still never wore one himself...its an outcome that never needs to happen!

thats too bad, might be a dumb question but do you think it would have turned out better if he wasn't so high up?

We need to start thinking about our family and the impact on them if we should get hurt or killed,

If any thing the family comes first any one that go's in a tree stand with out tieing in is just a fool and not thinking of the core the family my heart go's out to the family that lost but its the choose's we make today that leave our mark on tomorrow be always safe and have fun

You can kill yourself from 10'.  I don't think I'd survive a 5' fall.............................I LOVE my safety harness and wouldn't hunt without it. 

 

 

Only a FOOL hunts without a quality safety harness, used properly.

I'm no physics expert, but I was at a fatal construction accident once where a roofer fell from a 1st floor roof onto a 2x10 that was lying on the ground.  He was only about 15 feet off the ground.  He was killed instantly after he fractured his skull.  That quickly made me realize how little impact it takes if you land the wrong way.  15 ft is about the minimum most of us hunt from in a stand.
