Better year for turkeys

         Have been getting some good pictures of turkeys this year. Finally a successful family! Can't wait for the fall turkey season!

We had a tough spring for poults with the wet conditions, only 3 that I know of. Last year we had 17 grouped together, by now.

Wow, that's a bummer, yeah the past few years have just been too wet! Good luck this season!

We have fewer poults as well this year wet... last year their main nesting area on a neighbor was logged right during nesting ...but that said...we have more turkey on the property than ever before...I increased clover plots and besides the buckwheat.... I now rotate grain sorghum into the plots...besides leaving islands of their favorite wild berry brush....I already have seen the long beard I want to hunt this fall....

Poults I've seen here are small 3Rd nesting most likelyy. But have a bruiser of a tom coming in every day...he's got a long.beard and a great set of spurs!

This is the first year in the past several years that I've even seen poults on my property! Don't have many, but a few.... The flock has 9 birds, 3 hens and 6 poults.

That's a beautiful tom!!

Not a good year here....Have yet to see a hen with more than 4 poults.

This is the 3 poults with 2 hens. Snapped the pic on Saturday. They surprized me as I surprized them, LOL.
