I shot it with a Canon T2i Rebel... First time using the camera feature and was REALLY happy with the quality.  Just need a tripod

Yeah, it just sucks to zoom, because its an DSLR, so you zoom manually.  The solution is to just cut those parts out.  It shoots 1080p @ 30FPS... I love it so far.
