Arrow building questions

So as i sit here and decide how i want to build these 2413 eastons...figured id ask a few questions. Im shooting sonic pro broadheads, which vanes would you shoot? Ive got blazers, vanetecs in all sorts of sizes, quikspins...im not really after a light setup as with blazers right now im around 435 grains. Also, should i align the blades of my broadheads with the vanes? Ive heard it helps with traditional style heads. But ive gotten decent flight without aligning them before. Any thoughts?

light vaes may actually be the way to go in order to keep the weight forward ration correct. What is your numbers for weight forward before you fletch it?

I've heard a good hunting arrow should have a higher FOC than target. Lighter fletchings will definitely help achieve that, along with a heavier BH.

Right now with blazers and a wrap with 100 grain im at 10.09 foc according to the calculator

Perfect place to start. good rule of thumb is between 7% - 15% FOC. usually 10 is the target for initial set up. and up or down from there. You should be fine.

Should i go with heavier vanes? Or stick to blazers at this point?

 A 3 " vane will be about the same grains as the Blazers. 4" could go up in weight around 10 gr or more. I would use the Blazers if it were me. I think they are more durable IMO

Ive always wanted to try those quickspins i have. But not sure how they will hold up to the whiskerbiscuit. Never had issues with the blazers or vanetecs.

I prefer a little higher FOC for my hunters, 12% and up. My targets are at around 10%.

That isn't the end of the world. Make one and shoot it.

 

If you really want to add weight up front without changing your set up you can go this route.

This is one of the arrows ive already made up. Its what i shoot normally. Just added a broadhead to it for the foc measurements....seems low to me

Dont. Ive tried them though my WB and they dont work very well. Blazers are the best thing going for WBs.

I like the blazers. Also had decent luck with vanetec 3"

Because they are alum, I'd only have to imagine that you need an even heavier BH to move that FOC forward. Problem with a low FOC could result in the arrow more likely to lose stability in flight and more prone to planing with a BH.

Thats what i was thinking. Maybe 125 grain head. I know this arrow has alot of whack already with 100 grain lol

Yes i shoot a WB. Love the simplicity of it. Ive had dropaways and still have a limbdriver in my box. But its hard for me to switch to anything else. Fps loss or not its a great rest

Parker UL31 29/60 Wb rest impact archery single pin easton autumn orange 2413 arrows, sonic pro 100grains or crimson talon xt 100gr. Cant decide which i like better

Sweet, I also shoot a Parker. 29"/60# should pack a punch. If you're comfortable with the slower FPS and faster drop(read that you were ok with this in another post) you should throw on a heavier BH on there. 125 or even 150 to increase your FOC and retune.

Nothing wrong with a WB, as long as the shooter realizes its pro's, and con's.

I made the same move on my setup after I got tired of a few non-pass through shots. Havent had the issue since, and Im not afraid to put an arrow right through a shoulder bone.

Its a good little bow. When i got it i thought it was boxed wrong and they sent me a kids bow haha!

I shoot a 480g arrow (easton axis n-fused) including a 125g head.  Lots of thump and penetration.  Not the fastest (mid 270s), but I can tell you from pulling those arrows from blocks, the heavier arrows with heavier heads penetrate much more that the lighter, faster arrows.  I sold off all of my lighter arrows.  MY FOC was just under 11 as I recall.
