buck snort...

OK guys getting out of stand last night I was being VERY quiet and it was dark...I had to wait out momma and triplets...and man were they spooky...feeding in the turnips....as I got to second rung I heard a very deep snort and then more straight across from me at the apple tree 50 yrds...this is area I have pics of buck....I have never gotten snorted at by a buck sooooo....will they and will they do it several times staying in area?...Will a mature buck do that?...any time I've been busted by a big buck they just turn a bound away...never snort.. well I take that back....one buck did but it was more of a huffing as he stiff legged it back to me ...because I snorted back at him....hoping I didn't screw up spot...

Anything is possible, but my observation has been multiple snorts = mature doe. The few times I've heard bucks snort, it was one quick 'whuff" on their way outa Dodge.

Yep they do it, not as much as doe.  If you have doe in the area he will be back.

Well I have to say ...he's about the same size as my bow buck from 2 yrs. ago....and even though I'd prefer an older buck...the knee is giving out on me....gun season is starting to look a bit faded as it were....ate my bow tag last year passing buck...but this year with the surgery coming up...not happening...one never knows what the future holds...so I'm going to enjoy nice kill shot on a nice buck ...God willing

I got snorted at by a doe in that area.....16 ft up and she caught me slowly turning my head!! It was the exact same sound...dang she's deep and loud...has to be old and too wise..has twins with her
