Deerthug
At Schiff Scout Camp in Wading River with my son and his troop. It's our annual thanksgiving campout. This year my daughter is coming too. We make Trashcan turkeys, take nature hikes, trail rides and just hang out by the campfire. It's going to be cold tomorrow night but being a hunter it's no sweat for me. Subzero sleeping bag, coleman cot and thermals will make it nice and toasty. The things we do for our kids! I was thinking of bringing my bow being that I have a DMP for 1C but I don't think gutting a doe in front of the troop would go over very well with the scoutmaster. Lol! I've sat in a tree-stand for hours when it was in the single digits. I think I can handle the 20's in a subzero bag and cot. It will be a heat wave. Lol! Deerthug
Why not! Thats the perfect time to introduce the kids to it I agree. But I'm actually working on arranging for one of the instructors from my son's hunters safety course last month to talk to the boys about archery. Deerthug
Just got home.. Boy that hot shower felt good. Overall the campout was a success! Good food, great company but dang it was cold this morning! It was so cold that my water bottle froze, and my phone battery died during the night. It was 19 degrees this morning! Thank God for the heated bathrooms! Time to invest in better equipment including a new tent as the one I had was more of a summer/early fall tent. I have 6 more years of boy scouting so it will be well worth the investment. Camping is great but as Dorothy said: "there is no place like home!"
