Number of licenses issued

I went on DEC to see if they have update the table of licenses issued, they haven't for years. The numbers were tailing off and from what I hear a lot of people boycotted NY this year due to the Safe Act and went to Pa. I was hoping they at least brought the table up to 2012

I noticed that and getting any data from the DEC is a nightmare. Took 20 emails to get an excel sheet two years ago of kill reports and last year 10 plus emails and no response. Its public data too.

It may have something to do with DECALS going away after this year or next. If you do some searches on the dec site, youll find some memos and reports that mention it.

I hope they have something as good or better to replace it with. Frankly, I think the DECALS system is the best thing that has ever happened to hunting license issuing. It sure beats any systems that preceded it. I remember all the hand printing and waiting and the BS involved with obtaining a permit. What a pain that was.

I agree that getting info from them is like pulling teeth. I killed a bear 2 years ago with my bow

and was sent a package to send them a tooth so I could have it aged...well, I never did receive it.

I bugged them a few times about it but just gave up.

In addition, they send an archery sighting report to me every year to fill out, which I do. I got

married 3 years ago so of course my last name changed. I have put sticky notes, highlighted, put a new address label, etc...anything to get their attention that my last name has changed and to fix it

but of course even something as simple as that can't be accomplished by them. Not that it's really a

big deal that the last name is right...but I mean geez...how hard could it be to change it?

they use to send me a sighting report...for 8H...I don't hunt 8 H...must have told them that a dozen times

If they do away with DECALS and don't replace it I'm screwed. All the shops and town halls down here have done away with issuing licenses. Its only at Dick's and Sports Authority..when they have tags...when the license issuer is there...when they feel like it.
