the blur
Have you seen any deer succumb to this sub zero weather? I heard they are moving less, trying to conserve warmth. But I figured they would be eating more, moving around more.
HuntOrBeHunted
Havn't seen a single deer and I doubt I will. They know it's way to cold.

growalot
I bundled up and went out taking walk and a little work..wasn't too bad -5...I saw I bumped 4 deer about 100 yrds out..I stood and watched them for 15 min....got a bit cold then...any ways they moved off about 200 ft and stopped..then slowly moved back....but the wind shifted and sent them back up into the slashing....they were not in a hurry to move too fast...I didn't realize how long I was out until I got back..2 1/2 hrs....just my feet got cold
azhuntress
I was thinking about all the animals last night and today and how it would suck to be them out in the bitter cold. I feed about 8 or so squirrels behind my house every morning through the winter but I didn't see them at all today. They must have been hunkered down in their nests. I'm sure I'll see them again tomorrow.

azhuntress
LOL, Yes they would make a nice stew! I hunt and eat squirrels but not them as they are my backyard friends. My husband always teases me that he would like to shoot and eat them because they are so fat from me feeding them but they are off limits. I enjoy watching them and so do my 2 cats (they are indoor cats so they have to watch from the window).

I'm suppose to head up to camp with a bunch of friends this weekend for a squirrel hunt I agree I wouldn't eat the ones I feed either when I was younger I use to alway put blobs of peanut butter on my moms porch for the squirrels
