173Abn
Would a 22 Hornet be a good gun for coyotes
UpstateNomad90
I couldn't see why not, I would use a 40-45 grain bullet. Edited January 29, 2014 by UpstateNomad90
Pygmy
Within 150 yards or so, it should work fine. You might have to track a little more than if you use a .223 or a 22-250, but it will do the job. Lots of guys use the .22 mag for coyotes, and the hornet is more powerfull than that. 132 eight pointer
22 Hornet ammo has been hard to find around Rochester anyways.

Larry
I use a 22-hornet works fine I keep my shots to 100yds or less most shots are 50yds or less anyways. When I buy ammo I use hornady 35gr v-max at about 3100 fps you can get them at beikirchs. The 35gr. Work fine have never lost any. When I reload I use a 40gr v-max at about 2900fps with 11.8grs of h-110 just a little more mass. I do have a 22-250 700bdl varmint spl. and that works great but its heavy and if you get a shot at a fox it tears them up bad. I look at it dead is dead and you can't make them any deader. sssurfertim
I stated getting into predator hunting in the last two years started with a single shot .22 and now picked up a .22 mag. Killed two grey foxes both time I have been out, the .22 mag is an awsome round. Haven't seen a Coyote yet but should take one down fine if I get a head shot. Killed this nice grey 2 weeks ago in the Catskills 60yd shot with ballistic tip ammo dropped him on the spot. I used a rabbit hand squeaker call. Definitely exciting animals to hunt. Hardcore
.22 hornet will put the smackdown on them @ reasonable distances less than 200...22 Hornet is a scalding fast round. The ammo can be tough to find
Bone Seeker
It sure is. Ive killed many with mine. 45 grain hollowpoints do the trick. Its a nice fast flat shooting round.
