After cutting a bunch of larch up a couple of months ago i was asked by the eldest at camp to make his wife some planter boxes. Was so nice today i figured id knock them out. 3x8 x 12in with poles for her hanging  tomatoes.  All just rough cut larch lumber.20221025_115052.thumb.jpg.5f00486293bf7e02350998131b91c1e6.jpg20221025_115040.thumb.jpg.eb2df0300b637c7e124092375eb012b7.jpg20221025_141941.thumb.jpg.8d857991ad4ef902f6a0ec5f408f8244.jpg20221025_141951.thumb.jpg.726f8c2aa1fe129f5d2815acfbc7575e.jpg

Not sure how it does with plants, but the old barns made from larch seems to have been a good choice. When my cousin and I picked up the larch for my great grandpa’s barn my cousin now owes I got a true appreciation of just how sappy larch really is. Bright red color that faded to a nice grey.

Most planters are larch or cedar as both are highly rot resistant.  My other 4  i made for myself last spring worked very well!

I dont think ill get into selling  them for quite awhile.  I would guess  i have 100 bucks  in them if i just charged  labor.. idk what larch goes for  board ft wise.. but they are fun to make..  and more fun dropping skidding logs and milling them off the property.  Maybe when i retire  in few years  ill make a few for drinking  money.... lol
