My first post but I am always on the site.  I live in duchess county.  Im looking to get bobwhite quail for training my dog.  I lost the guys info from where I got them last year.  If anyone knows where i could get some it would be much appreciated.  Thanks

What kind of dog do you have?

 

I used pigeons and road killed ringnecks to train my pup 10 years ago.  Hopefully the statute of limitations has passed....................................................

thanks.  i have a german shorthaired pointer.  he just turned 1.  i built a recall pen so i can release them  and they will come back.  it worked pretty good last year.  bobwhites are what recall the best and they seem to be the hardest to find locally.

Ever tried Homing pigeons?

Far more common to find near the city and easier to keep.

The DEC division of special licenses, the office which issued you your $200 permit to possess live bobwhites, which I am sure you have, also issues the game bird breeders their permits, so they probably can direct you to licensed breeder.

Doe- Idk why i never got homing pigeons. I guess cause it would have been a little tougher making a pen. I just used a 55 gallon drum. It was cheap and easy.
