practice range

Another thing how many practice on nice level ground. Ever shoot a deer on nice level ground. Maybe you western ny'ers have but out here in eastern ny we've got uneven ground.

Good point. Most practice on level ground but hunt from a tree stand. I'm always amazed at how different it feels from 20 feet up on that tree stand with hunting cloths and a safety harness on,  shooting at all kinds of angles. I step it up just before and during the season and shoot with my hunting garb on from a stand in my yard. It helps.

Not just from a treestand either but on the way to it. You could be standing on a side hill, down hill, up hill,.... It'll all change your shooting from canting your bow to form like from a stand.

I use 40 yards as my longest shot and have the setup to shoot from 20, 25, 30, 35, and the last is 40 yards. We go from long to short and shoot a max of 5 arrows at each of the two bag targets.  we do this with a buddy about 2 times a week, as we both are retired, We also then shoot my 3D course, I had a bow shop for years, and wanted always to have a small range for myself and a few buddies so I started buying 3 3D targets a year. I have the range setup on 20 acres and have 17 shooting location with 2 targets each location. The targets are deer, bear, and turkey. Most of the shots are hunting shots and go from 20 yards to 30 yards. It sure does give you better understanding of your bow and your own skill level.
