Little late this season.

 

Was out of town and some other issues come up. Got back home last night and actually got all my gear ready.

 

The stands were all taken care of over the past month, trimmed and ready to go.

 

Have seen a few nice bucks on cam. a 9 and a 10 being the top two.

 

My bro got out up north last week on last years tag and flattened a nice doe.

I actually got up to go but it is so warm out I think I might just wait until this weekend there is a nice cold front coming. We will see.

Just got out back to the field edge stand for an hour. It was real warm and it was more of a dry run to make sure all my gear was in the right pockets and such. I opened this stand up a while back so I will be hitting it a few more times.

10/3 am 57

 

Got out to my far stand out back this morn for 2 hours. First real sit in a long time!! Nice morning but no deer in sight. I did catch a glimpse of what I think was a fisher, not positive. If it was I am sure I will see it again.

 

The wife did text me at 8 or so to tell me three deer were in the back yard, of course! lol They were all fawns, I have one doe who has had 3 two of the last three years. She is not a shooter!

 

Back out in the morn.

Thanks, yes it says low of 39 here Sat and Sun night. And rain and wind Saturday should take down a lot more leaves. They were falling a lot this morning.

10/4 61 pm

 

Got up this morning saw the rain and went back to bed. Too early in the season to get wet!!

 

Rained till about 3pm. Was in the stand down in the hole for 3 hours. Right before sunset had a fawn then a doe cut across a lane. To quiet, too quick and too much leaves to see them before the crossed and no shot. The doe ended up circling back and walked right at me to 12 yards or so. Past shooting time.

Out back in the far stand for 3.5 hours. Man is was nice and cold. Neither my bro nor I saw a thing.

Back down in the hole for 3 hours. Bumped a spike going in, it went and walked 25 yards broadside in front of my bro and then eased off. Bumped a doe and fawn past him after set coming out. Neither of us saw a thing. It was a nice nite spitting a bit of rain off and on.

 

Hmm back at em Tuesday, tied up tomorrow.

Out back for 2 hours. Bumped one going in. Wind switched on me and some sprinkles but no sightings.

Thanks First, you too!! Little slow so far. Still getting used to the Oct 1 opener. I do not hunt agricultural so really does not help me.

10/8 am 57

 

Down to the outer hole stand this morning for 2 hours. A big zip. I did realize I missed one branch while trimming last month and spent the morning hoping a deer would not come out behind it! My hope worked too good.

 

Back out later.

Just got out on the field edge stand close to the house for an hour. Had to run shuttle picking up kids from practice. Nothing going on. A little bit of fall plot is coming up though in the brush hogged area I just threw some seed out in.

2 hours in the far stand out back. Man you could see 100 yards fine with the huge harvest moon!! Absolutely nothing moving.

Another 1.5 hours in the far stand it was a bit windy but cooled off into the 50s. Nothing sighted but I did kick one on my way out at dark. I am not off to a good start!! 2 deer sighted in about 20 hours on stand! Just awful.

 

I am up to the Dacks for a friend and family getaway so not back out until Tuesday. Things hopefully are more productive then!!

 

My nephew will be out for the youth hunt I hope he gets one on my property, that would be cool.

Well it is way to warm to be hunting! I will try to get lawn mowed today. It is 80 out my o my.

 

My nephew did get out but unfortunately he missed a doe out back Sunday. He hunted hard all weekend and had a good time.

 

My brother accidently dry fired his beloved Bowtech and it went kaplooey. It may be beyond repair.

 

I saw a bunch of "tame" deer up in Old Forge, I had a nice 6 pointer 4 feet from me wanting food. Not hard to tell people are breaking the law and feeding them when you open the slider and they come running!

 

Also pulled a tick outa my leg yesterday so make sure you are checking yourselves out there.

 

I will see what temps are doing and maybe do a sit in the morning. Weather looks warm through Friday.

Out back for 2 hours nada zip zero. I almost took the boat over to the river for smallies, shoulda!

Out back again for 2

hours. Nice morn, cooler mist off and on. Did not even see a bird or squirrel!

Not counting but 2 deer in 24 hours on stand is not a good start!

Good thing cold front coming tomorrow afternoon .

Down in the hole again for another 2.5 hours. Rained pretty good for an hour then light rain off and on. Another zero for us both.

Well I got the cold I wanted. It just stopped raining before I went out. Sat out back in the far stand. Bit of wind swirl now and then but overall a nice cold morning. Just the deer did not agree!! Sat 2.5 hours.

Back down in the hole for 3 hours. Man it was a nice night. Just a bit windy but not bad. I can not see a deer. Both bro and I zip.
