Long Island Gun Season got my drawing number

First year I actually drew a number instead of going on stand by.  I got number 426.  Does anybody know if this is good?  Any idea what day this type of number will get me?  I am hoping at least opening week.  What do you guys who have done it before think?

The state has a lottery system you enter usually the dead line is the first week of Dec. if they draw your tag you get to shotgun hunt one day during the shotgun season on the state properties unless of course you have written permission to hunt a private piece 10 acres or more then you get the town permit.

Depending on which piece of peroperty you'll be hunting that number will get you hunting on either the first or second day of the season.

I go on stand by every year and always get a place to hunt. usually always the land i want too... this year i may not do shot gun.

Are there 10 zillion guys out there like the rumors state??

Do they give you a specific spot ?

A lot of guys enter the lottery. I have hunted on LI many times, either via the lottery or on stand by.

Your lottery number dictates your choice of when to hunt and your hunting  location. Suffice to say, the lower your number the better to choose a date and a particular location.
