looking at Penn 209 reels for downriggers in the finger lakes. Anybody got any input?

I use mine for fluke, but can tell you it is reliable

penn 209's are certainly a reliable reel, the only downfall is the retrieval rate is slow 3.2:1  the shimano tr200's are 4.3:1 . 

 

if your fishing for browns and landlocks I would go with a faster retrieval rate.  how many set ups are you looking at getting?

We only fish Lake O, but have been using the daiwa sealine 47 reels forever and never have an issue.  They may be to heavy for finger lakes though.
