GreggNY
The info is from this year's harvest report. From a quick look over all the cities listed in the entire state, Warwick is something like 3rd for total deer take. The other areas somewhat close to it aren't anywhere near the numbers there. So what's the deal? Good land? Giving out a ton of tags there? Huge hunter population? I know there isn't much in the way of public land. I've never been over to that area but am pretty interested. bkln
Spillover from NJ would be my guess, some northern NJ counties have unlimited tags.

Two Track
Part of Warwick is Pine Island, the black dirt region. Great soil for the crops and a few dairy farms for the deer to jump into the pasture and feed there too. Have seen deer on a couple horse farms too grazing with the horses.
sweet old bill
black earth belt area, lots of good food source and also not a lot of state hunting land...
Jmny
Thanks for the black dirt reference. This 26,000 acre former swamp land which would frequently flood prior to early 1900's . When a drainage ditch was, esrtablished to keep the area from flooding. The farmers use to produce 30,000 pounds of onions per acre. Due to changes in popular taste of the onions the area farmers began to diversify with planting lettuce, radish, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and sod. While this land is very fertile it isn't conductive to having large structures built on it. So it will remain farmland for a long period of time. And this 26,000 acres of farmland apparently sustains a large population of deer. In fact you have to travel 250+ miles to find another dump that has,a comparable harvest rate in NY. Black Bellamy
Yeah, I'm from Warwick and I see a lot of deer. Lots and lots of deer. But yes, it's pretty much all private land.
Two Track
There are a few fields I go by occasionally and they are fairly consistent on having a couple flocks of geese in them by Warwick too. See them when going to Davis' or passing through to Pochuck Mountain.
Bowguy 1
No spillover in Jersey, the unlimited doe harvest I keep hearing mentioned has decimated the herd. Warwick is crawling with deer
Elmo
Isn't Warwick in 3P which required preference points this year for DMP?
