Some of the NYB people and others who look down their noses at crossbows, should actually shoot one before snubbing them and the hunters who use them. They will then see the the effective range of a crossbow is no more than a modern compound bow and just as safe.

I have been hunting and shooting with recurve and compound bows for almost forty years. And will continue to use them. But,due to shoulder issues, I started shooting a crossbow last year, and think of it as just another tool to hunt deer with. It is not some new super weapon that will make bows obsolete or kill at great distances and is very unsafe like NYB would have us all believe.

NYB has their own agenda  as well as NYSDEC. And both seem to me, to want to force their will on the average hunter, come what may. And the average hunter will not have any say in the decisions made because no one really listens to us.

I'm all for an early muzzleloader season even anterless only , I'm a bigger fan for split season, an early gun 5 to 7 days and then a later gun 2 weeks, bow can run continously the whole time,

I've heard the argument of spooked deer and making it harder on bow hunters, heck they admit they only take 15% of total take, more is needed so why cater to a minority group for longer season, when a second shorter season will accomplish the goal of reducing the herd, perhaps a long seperate bow season is possible with full inclusion of crossbow (I especially like the lie of dec wanting it in muzzleloader, their position has always been for full inclusion in bow,it's the legislation that placed it there in part due to nyb) changes are coming for sure, but I am sick of hearing older hunters not being to be able to hunt late gun season due to health concerns, so they are forced to buy archey/crossbow to hunt in the better weather many cannot due to financial constraints. Why not a 5 or 7 day gun hunt n sept or oct. Let the older participants do a job archers are unwilling or un able to do. (Personally I feel they are unwilling as if I had unlimited doe tags in bow I could kill a deer about every 3 days with a bow no doubt in my mind)

So let me get this straight... you expect the x-bow hunters whom you blatantly tell that you are somehow "better" and that x-bow shouldn't share your "special" season to turn around and fight for the rights of your season? Do you see the error with the logic there? Perhaps if bow hunters were less petty when it came to keeping the season for only bow hunters you would be getting more support. Right now, asking the x-bow people for their votes sounds kind of hypocritical.

It doesn't take a crystal ball to figure out that it is just a matter of a year or two before crossbows have inclusion in all of bow season. And so the crossbow people have a vested interest in this issue. But apparently they do not possess enough insight or actual interest to martial their members to fight something that is sure to affect them within the next few years. If you want to talk about petty, just examine the attitudes that amount to cutting off your nose to spite your face. These are the brilliant people that bow season has inherited. The ones who have no interest in anything that does not involve a crowbar.

Let me say that Jeremy Hurst and  NYB are in an argument ...there was an article in the NYODN's about it...were Jeremy Hurst was quoted as to having an issue with them due to the letter sent out to members...

Yep too bad when ppl in a position of power can have influence over what all hunters in a specific group can do when they are ticked off at just one small fraction of that group...We'll see...hhhmmmm

Organized bowhunters have only the power ceded to them by the apathetic.
