Then and now. I really like the oats mixture in with the radishes. Once the oats filled grain, deer ate right to the ground. The oats drew early, the radishes kicked in a few weeks ago, and should draw right through muzzle. These deer pics are from yesterday.

looking good...they have not touched mine this year and for some reason the aren't hitting the turnips as usual either...lots of greens and just a few bulbs nibbled...Now with the oats and chichory...the oats are not touched at all and all headed out...the chicory is down to dirt...the WW is mowed and the clovers are down to dirt.

I won WHT tail Inst. seed...was suppose to be clover but they sent 1/2 acres worth of chicory plus....Im not so disappointed now...lol That will go in the lane way this spring..

Looks awesome. Im gonna have to try the oat/brassica mix next year. Our brassicas are getting hammered, and the WR looks like a nicely mowed lawn.

I was a little concerned because I got my turnip/radish/rape plot in a little late, around the third week of August and the weather was pretty dry the next two weeks..

Not to worry...With the rain and fairly warm weather we have had since then, everything grew great...I have turnips the size of baseballs, radishes 8-10 " long and the greens would be about 2 feet tall, except the deer are keeping them all trimmed down..My clover/ oat plot is right beside it and they are hammering it too..

Here is a sample of my daikon radishes from a few weeks ago. planted them in the parts of my corn that didn't do so well. The deer have been hitting the tops of them and the rape lately.

They love to use them on those cooking competitions.

So I tag out...and the "sticker buck" comes in eats the radiish finally..... and then promptly rubs the crud out of one of my Concolors,really!! there was a wht . spruce  right next to it!.....what day is this...actually the day I shot his buddy and right across from the house...lol

I hunted cut corn yesterday afternoon. Eight deer came in well before sunset at the other end 250 or so yards out. My end, a buck fawn; then as if the pearly gates opened up, seven doe, fawn and the now famous 3x5 named Oaken came in 15 minutes after sunset. I sat there, not to disturb right into seven oclock. Last of the deer exited, got up and walking into the domain of radish, I greeted five more deer.They didn't like the interference, sending their yell bells into the night sky. 

 

My radish look as though WWIII  was fought in them. They have done the job and if this mild trend holds, feed right in winter.

I thought they would never touch them this year...but I went to check the cam and he was the only one on it and they were all chewed up and many yanked out...mine did not get very deep because that is VERY wet and VERY clay based..put them there to open it up some..It really is going to have to be clover and or chicory in there...no getting around it...the tree really puts a burn on me...but glad he was around and at night...went to take hides down last night and came back the back way...4 trucks at the 50 acres behind "santuary" neighbor and those guys are notorious trespassers and 2 trucks at their land across the road from that...lease guys must have tagged out they weren't around....Staying out in hopes they push them on me for safety and they show in day light during gun...Good Luck
