Southhaven County Park - Can you deer hunt there??

If you have friends in high and right places you might get a shot at some deer in there, is what I'm getting.

Years ago, I heard they caught 2 FBI guys in Hecksher bowhunting in off schoolhouse road.

I'd say they get guys every year, because they now post the perimeter in the fall with signs, STATE PARK - NO HUNTING blah blah..

i've been fishing in connetquot since i was a kid.  there wouldn't really be anything sporting about hunting there or in hecksher.  at either park, you could hunt with a hammer.  from what i've heard over the years, the turkey population in connetquot was decimated by growth in the fox population.  there used to be a few peacocks that roamed around in connetquot- they got wiped out, too.  i grew up in the area and have always heard rumors of guys poaching in and around these parks.

The foxes didn't decemate the turkeys, most of the ones they released were sterile.  I heard this from a dec worker.

I have been in the hecksher state park at night and the amount of deer in there and quality is unbelieveable.  I've heard of the dec allowing people to hunt in the parks. How you get permission I have no idea.  My aunt's house borders Connetquot state park and the amount of deer that come in her back yard is insane.  I would like to figure out who you need to contact to gain permission or just open a weekend of hunting with a lottery. there would plenty of guys looking to get in there.

his aunt cant do anything for him lol. she has no say who hunts in there... not to mention if she gave you the go ahead it would totally be illegal....
