greg54
Got a call from my sister last night and she was asking about the maple weekend dates this year. I checked and it's March 19-20 and April 2-3. Has me thinking of a nice stack of pancakes and fresh maple syrup.Yummy! Anyone know how the syrup is shaping up to be this year? Dinsdale
Been so busy with work and have a hunting trip coming up in just a few months, haven't even given making syrup a thought. May have to skip tapping this year:<(

greg54
From a few years ago. How much syrup are you able to get from that amount?
Dinsdale
Generally speaking sap to syrup is around 40:1....so 40 gallons of sap will get you 1 gallon of syrup. I'm doing good at 50:1, an early run will be even less at 60:1. My sugar content runs on the light side due to several factors; trees, soil, etc. Good info here; http://maple.dnr.cornell.edu/FAQ.htm
landtracdeerhunter
I would get close to three quarts of syrup on a typical boil down day, back then.

landtracdeerhunter
Sugarbush,Info forum has some great friendly people. They have helped me a lot. I got just three quarts of syrup out 48 gallons of sap. Sure have to work to boil this early sap into syrup. I can relate to enjoying their reverse osmosis equipment. I do hope for the later runs to increase sugar %. I like the March flows more. Edited January 27, 2016 by landtracdeerhunter
