Another raptor ID

This bird flew across a road in Florida and sat for a picture. Anyone know what it is?

What Wingnut said. They eat mostly retiles and amphibians. They do nest here in NY and are usually seen around swampy areas, where they hunt snakes, frogs, etc.

Wooly sent me one of his (always) excellent pictures of a Kestrel the other day.

I told him that bird ID is so much easier with a good photo to look at.

I couldn't believe it I stopped the car and rolled down the window and it posed for the pic. Probably too full of geckos to take off again lol

Probably Nanday Parakeet, also called Black-headed parakeet. Pretty neat!
