Such a warranty....Though I admit, I am limited because mine are free from Gander...but was wondering if any of you have seen or used these cameras....I happened across them on Amazon at what looked to be a good price...

I was thinking about getting one a year or so ago. I ended up with a usa trailcam. Biggest piece of poo poo ever. I am going to order one of these cams within the next couple weeks. 5 year warranty is great. I also like how you can text them and they will call you.

Met them this past weekend. The cam itself is OK. Pretty hefty, cam looks good (ie the body/shell and build quality). Night pics OK, day pics so-so. Battery life seems like they are middle of the road from what I have read from users - same range as Browning.

 

The warranty/theft replacement is worked into the cam price, so you need to think about that. They are not subsidizing the warranty length and the 50% theft replacement from the government.

 

They are good marketers of the modern sort - ie social media. They say they are working on some wireless cam that will "reinvent the trail cam world and turn it upside down." Of course they can't talk about it right now.

I am not saying it is a poor cam - just that the cost of the warranty/replacement is built in.

 

The other thing is - cams are still evolving quickly. In 5 years, that cam won't even sniff the current technology at that time. Not a lot of people have cams 5 years old - possibly because the cams don't live that long - but I doubt many hunters using cams would really enjoy a cam that long. It'd be put in the "high risk area" or the crappy spot because all their other cams are newer/better/faster, etc. Some people would like that peace of mind, no doubt, and would use the camera til the wheels fall off. But, it'll be a dinosaur in 2020.

 

Once the market levels - I definitely see value in a cam lasting 5-10 years.

Its a game cam, I need it to take a picture night or day without missing any. Yes preferably decent quality. But the pic is going to get looked at and for all but a few shooters deleted. I ain't taking artsy pictures to go on the wall. It is a tool that needs to do a very simple application. It is very disappointing that almost all the cams out there are garbage or if not can't last more than a year or two in the field.

Not many electronics sit outside in the elements for 100 and perform multiple functions. A simple picture taken requires sensing, data recording/image capture and plenty more. Nothing simple about a game camera for 100 bucks.
