DirtTime
Well here goes, and I know I will get flack for this........ I have nothing against NICS or people having to pass a criminal background check to own a gun. The only people who I feel have an issue with this are people who probably can't legally own a gun. I don't think it's unconstitutional to have this in place. Yeah, NICS gets bogged down a lot, but that's fine with me. If you are good to go a few day wait shouldn't really bother you. ____________________________________________________________________ Now, onto this stupid "Assault Weapon" BS! I think people need to grow up as far as AR Platform and the like rifles! They are sporting rifles just like any other semi-auto rifle, they just look different. They are not full auto! I am not even going into the "Cuomo Act" right now. I am all for "sensible" gun control. Unfortunately, there is no sense to it. They can make all the laws they want, 'sensible' or not, it will not keep guns out of criminals hands. But, I am also on the odd side here as I think we should all be allowed "Constitutional Rights". Pass NICS and if you want a handgun, then get one. Let the responsible gun owners have the guns they have a right to own!

But I think you are wrong in who is opposing it as a standard for all sales. I see the most opposition of any form of gun control coming from those that realize what the Anti's agenda really is. I think that anyone f us could craft better legislation that some of the hair brained ideas that get pushed out as bills and laws. The authors don't understand what they are talking about (or worse yet, they do and mislead on purpose). The anti's pat response is that more restrictions are required when the current ones don't yield the reduction in crime that they say is their goal. SO when laws are ill-crafted and fail it leads to a continuous push for more restrictions. And who gets restricted? Law abiding gun owners. It is said so much that is almost doesn't carry any weight but the criminals, by definition, don't follow laws.
pt0217
I agree culvert. But I believe they don't care about the criminals that commit crimes with guns. Their goal is to disarm the law abiding citizens. I mean how stupid could they be to think that the new law will be the one that criminals decide to obey. That being said, enough! Don't give an inch on any regulations. At least until the progressive left agrees with the facts and is willing to address this from a sensible position.

But I don't trust Hillary on not selling our land, sorry. JMO. Our national forests need to remain public and not be lotted off for housing, to other countries, or anything of the sort. As for maintaining wildlife and protecting endangered species, I am not sure any political group can do this alone, it's takes people like us, sportsman/women, to do our part as well. Same goes for habitat control. Culver, I see what you are saying. I agree. My point was, in my humble opinion, I have no problem with NICS. I argue with people all the time about handgun permits, while I see why many feel that a permit is a good thing as a handgun is so easy to conceal, I don't think I should have to jump through hoops to own one. If a criminal really wants a gun, long or short, they will find a way to get one. Edited June 29, 2016 by ....rob
