bugsNbows
Just picked up a new sight for my CAMX crossbow... a Tjijicon ACOG XB. The supplied sight was ok, but this is awesome. (It should be though as it costs a lot but I did get it at a reduced price). I always gravitate to top shelf stuff even if I have to save up for months to get it. With advancing age, my eyesight has declined. This will remedy that to be sure. Highly recommended if you have the inclination and coin.
Buckmaster7600
That is one the most rugged optics on the planet, their glass has room for improvement in clarity but durability is 2nd to none! I watched one fall of the top of a truck doing 40mph on asphalt in Iraq and it held its zero. I was a range safety officer on Paris Island when the marine corps started having recruits qualify with them and only seen 1 fail in a year and a half. grampy
I want to upgrade the crappy stock glass on my Raptor. I'm thinking about the Nikon but will give this a look too. Thanks!
nyslowhand
Ahh, the old catch-22 intro to Xbow scenario. Buy an entry level Xbow that's within your budget and then realize the optics are .... less than desirable. FYI - The optics are the 1st place mfgers look to cut costs, other than the Made in China product tag. So, you upgrade the optics on the new Xbow and suddenly you've spent the same as if you'd originally gotten a better performing Xbow package with improved OEM optics. Now you have a mid-range performing Xbow with great optics. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, huh? lol Now sure about recent advancements in Xbow optics, but a couple years ago Hawke was the standard scope for upgrading. Difference is quality glass has lifetime guarantee and will last forever long after the Xbow is antiquated. Comparing a hawke to either of the mentioned optics is a stretch and a long one at that! nyslowhand
Absolutely, a $1000 scope will perform much better than a $200 one, if money is not a factor.
bugsNbows
I did not pay a grand for it... but it wasn't cheap either. I get what I want... even if I have to save up a long time. If it turns out to be not what I wanted (or thought it would be) I sell it and try something different. That's been my mode of operation for many years. To each his own my friend.
nyslowhand
Fair enough!! Know it hurt when I paid in the $800 range a couple years ago for a decent Xbow/optics s/u, so this thread makes me cringe! Definitely, to each their own!
Buckmaster7600
I think the biggest problem in the Xbow industry is this "package" concept and most company's will not sell bare bows. I just spent nearly 1000$ on a bow that has a scope I'll never use a quiver that will never be mounted and bolts I'll never shoot. I shot them all and got the bow I wanted but I payed a bunch of money for crap I won't use. bugsNbows
Most "packages" I've seen on hunting stuff aren't that great... IMO.
