2016 Perseid Meteor Shower: Peak Dates Approaching

The Perseid Meteor Shower is expected to have an outburst in 2016.

The Perseid Meteor Shower, expected to have an outburst in 2016, will peak peak around mid-August yielding anywhere between 150-200 meteors per hour.

According to the American Meteor Society, normal rates range from 50-75 shower members per year but in 2016 they will appear at double the normal rate. NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke was quoted bySpace.com as saying the rate could top 150 and even reach 200 meteors per hour.

I always watch the meteor showers but here is a one day timed event for you to watch .

For my fellow sky watchers..

.Friday night,  Jul 29, at 22:10:38  there will be an Iridium Flare .The flash will be from Iridium satellite #61 and will have a magnitude of -8.0,  about 100 times as bright as Venus!  It will be at an altitude of 47° and an azimuth of 67° (ENE). If the sky is clear it will be an awesome sight!
