Rd Capacity for 30-30 Deer Hunting

I believe NY State requires that a hunting rifle for deer has a maximum capacity of 6 rds, 5 in magazine and 1 in the chamber. I have a 30-30 which holds 6 in the tube and 1 in the chamber. Can I use that rifle to hunt deer in NY State? Is there any way to modify it if not? It is a Winchester '66 Centennial 30-30.

Can put a plug in it,

but I bet 99.9 % you will never get bothered unless you commit another infraction . Winchester modEl 12s were and are still used by many that don't know or don't care about the law..

What covert said... That only applies to semi autos  .. There is no magazine capacity limit for lever actions or pump guns.

 

If you want to hunt with your Great Granddaddy's Winchester 73 that holds 12 rounds, have at it...

If you want to put a 10 round aftermarket box mag on your Rem 7600 30-06, knock yourself out !

Interesting first post !  Anyway my lever holds 7 in the mag and 1 in the chamber !  The rule is (as mentioned above) for semi auto's only !
