Just Like The Start Of Spring Gobbler.......

It's raining.........
just like opening day of Spring Gobbler season.  I hope the deer season doesn't end like my turkey season.

I secured permission from the LO (land owner) yesterday morning but after dinner I checked the forecast and decided to bag it.  I called said LO and left a message that I was wussing out.  They are in their 80's and want me to call each time before I come out and in a case like today, it's best that I call and tell them I'm not coming so they don't think I stuffed the Toyota into a ditch or something.

Only about 75 more days of deer hunting this season so hopefully the weather turns for the better......................

Not exactly like opening morning of gobbler for me...rain yes, but no action let alone a shot. Can't wait for the late afternoon sit! I have been seeing deer out in the late afternoon the last few days. They might move early.

I checked cams near the blind in the garden...Two nice Toms(first all summer) and two hens with 6 poults walked by and then under one of my stands...Maybe no deer but come Oct 19th? perhaps a Tom...It's been a steady drizzle here since 10a.m.

We just had about an hour of fairly hard, steady rain here this morning..

The weather fits in nicely with my afternoon plans..I'm going to spend the afternoon indoors at the Addison American Legion gun raffle and pig roast....<<grin>>....The back door is only about 100 yards from my house.

Hunted NJ this morning n the deer  seemed to be moving well. Saw a small 8 n 6 but didn't shoot. In lower Orange co near where I live the forecast looks ok so my younger daughter (13) n I are headed out soon. Good luck to all
